@lner cos I can’t go Leeds to King’s Cross due to disruption but I could go Avanti west coast from Carlisle down to Euston avoiding a merry go round around England going Appleby-Leeds-Manchester-London!

@LNER hello I was due to travel on kings x to Leeds at 19.03-I was told to go to Manchester and the Leeds. That line blocked. - told at Crewe to go to Preston and then Manchester. No trains there. Now told to go Blackburn! Help!

This! Net migration may have increased but when it comes to construction, we’ve actually lost lots of workers since the GFC and then again post Brexit. This is the problem with using data and stats that are not nuanced to make broad points. Two things can be, and often are, true!

Also note when Nigel Farage said on @BBCr4today yesterday that we don't need any construction workers coming from abroad "since we opened the doors in 2004", note that in UK construction in 2024 Q1 there were 219,000 fewer workers than in 2004 Q1. #ukconstruction #ukhousing

Labour Council bosses have made it clear that their current tactic is to to vote down anything we propose (even if - & especially when - they go on to do it). It's partisan & hugely cynical. A call for 'cross-party support' from Labour's deputy leader seems equally as cynical.
