@ProvisionistP Yes, we are told we must forgive others, but that is a separate issue than rewedding someone who has divorced us.

If one spouse is repentant (especially in a relatively straight forward case like this of being deceived by a professional), then their spouse should receive them.
two reasons:
1. we forgive the repentant
2. we don't automatically become un-covenanted.
I can't think of a reason to not receive your spouse like this except being hurt which is not a valid reason to not forgive and reconcile (with some nuance depending on the case).

@rootcausesleuth Well for one, we need to remember that Jesus was talking to people who were still under the law. I think he was doing what he did a lot, preach God's holy standard.
Then he fulfilled that standard so that we wouldn't be doomed to hell because we can't live up to it.

I am not sure that I would want to reconcile after she had divorced me.

I don’t even think adultery does that.

but that's not a good reason to toss out psa altogether.
*God has wrath for sin.
*Jesus died for our sins.
*Those in Him escape God’s wrath.

I'm seriously starting to doubt Penal Substitutionary Atonement. The responses to the objections against PSA have been weak and dismissal.
However, I've advocated for PSA for so long, it's hard to change the way I articulate the gospel. This is a total paradigm shift for me.

@EllaFlash Do you think the person behind that account you reply to is a christian who belongs and serves in a local community of believers? Based on the usual posts I see from that account, I don't believe that person is even a christian or even goes to church.

It's truncated statements like this that confuse unbelievers & believers alike. Just read through the comments. We are to be clear about soteriology statements. If this statement is taken without the full biblical context, it might suggest that salvation can be lost if one...
