#AHA22 LBCTs one liners: 1. TRANSFORM-HF: Torsemide was not superior to furosemide in improving survival among patients treated for decompensated HF. 2. DCP: No differences in cardiovascular outcomes between chlorthalidone and HCTZ among elderly veterans with HTN.

You’re called to see a patient with rapidly worsening shock. On the monitor you see the waveform on the left. An intervention was performed leading to the waveform on the right, within 5 min. What’s the problem? What improved it? #HemodynamicsWaveformChallenge

@PrathitKulkarni @BCM_InternalMed I often think this is one of the most important concepts we can teach our students (and interns!) on the wards. Illness scripts are hypothesis generating but clinical experience helps when things are much more “gray” (as is typically the case in real life)

Important point from @BCM_InternalMed Morning Report today with @JRH_MD. Classic illness scripts that are taught early in training are often insensitive. Most pts typically don’t have all the classic features of a particular Dx. Good example from today: Legionnaire’s disease.
