@ChrisVolkernick @SawyerMerritt I have Tesla insurance on my 2018 in Colorado. Whether or not the FSD savings will apply to me is yet to be determined.

@SawyerMerritt So are you basically just shut out of Tesla insurance if you're on HW3? I assume this is because of the fact that safety score is not supported on older models

In case people are confused, this means Tesla’s Safety Score Version 3.0 is now available, but currently only for NEW policy holders in Florida and Maryland. Existing policy holders in both states will get the new version starting on July 12th. The main new thing about V3.0 is that miles driven with FSD (Supervised) engaged now receive a Safety Score of 100.

Tesla Insurance update With the latest version of Safety Score (v3.0), every mile you drive with FSD Supervised enabled will receive a score of 100. This allows you to maintain a higher average safety score over time, resulting in lower monthly insurance premiums. Applies to new policies in Indiana, Tennessee, Texas, Arizona, Virginia & Illinois

This update has been so weird for me. It’s done some amazing stuff that it hasn’t before. Like pulling into my driveway (never has done this before, always passes it) and parking at target almost instantly. But it’s also doing the little ping pong thing occasionally and not following navigation, specially on right hand turns.

Yes, there are problems with HW3, but… just take a look at these clips… In the first, it confidently gets around a cardboard box on a narrow road without brake stabbing. In the second, it handles a construction zone with cones blocking the lane by using the shoulder.

@AlecStapp 100% I switched to FreeTaxUSA this year after Turbotax tried to charge me $400 to file my taxes that I did completely on my own lmao

This may sound like a sponsored post but I promise it's not (I just hate TurboTax and their rent-seeking lobbyists with the passion of a thousand suns): Use FreeTaxUSA instead. It's >90% cheaper than TurboTax and easier to use/higher quality software.

PSA… just took my first ride with FSD after the 2026.2.9.1 update, and even though FSD is still a bit of a miracle overall, the car felt absolutely retarded as compared to how it performed yesterday. Stopped dead in a roundabout. Went back and forth on a decision to stop at a yellow light 3 times before finally committing to the stop. Glad I wasn’t sipping coffee 🙄. Signaled opposite direction of the turns it made in a parking lot. I do need to clean my windshield inside the camera enclosure, so maybe that has something to do with this, but dang… so different from yesterday.

Just finished 50 miles on 2026.8.6 on HW3 and I cannot express enough how bad it is. The culvert = animal thing is way worse … it’s been constant at this spot for months despite reports every time, but today it braked HARD

@JacobFournierr @JonBbC_TechGeek I never noticed until someone mentioned it, but my ‘18 M3P was ping-ponging on autopilot (not FSD) on the way home from work this week. It used to be smoother than my wife’s Juniper. I wonder if a subsystem that FSD and autopilot use was updated… maybe some PID stuff altered?

One thing I noticed with 2026.8.6 (HW3 FSD v12.6.4) is that it has a new habit of trying to get into turn lanes way too early. It will actually move into a turn lane for the road before the actual road it needs to turn on. 🤦‍♂️ This happened 3 times today across 2.5 hours of driving on city streets. This wasn’t an issue with 2026.8.3. Here’s a dumb, but possibly valid theory: Tesla is changing FSD behavior for HW3 cars while not changing the FSD version number to prevent dumb content creators like myself from getting all excited running around and posting videos about old hardware drawing attention away from v14 and confusing everyone else in the process.

@JonBbC_TechGeek Well I experienced brake stabbing and some ping ponging while turning into a lane. And some back and forth hesitation. All in a day and 50 kms. Changed maybe ... Def not for the better?

I remain overly cautious with jumping to conclusions on FSD behavior changes on HW3 when the version number (v12.6.4) hasn’t changed. For me, it takes several days of driving to weigh in on it, and it’s hard to prove changes other than saying it “feels” different. Some people are so confident that it’s changed w/ the latest base OS update to 2026.8.6. Others, seemingly a minority, argue that it hasn’t changed. What gives? This may be a bad comparison, but it’s kind of like the flat earthers… They’re so convinced the Earth is flat that nothing will change their mind, no matter what! The only thing we really have to look at are the sizes of the Autopilot Bank A & B and Trip Weights, and these sizes have been changing. Based on my personal review, 2026.8.6 *feels more cautious (some are calling it phantom braking) on city streets and it *seems to be changing lanes slightly differently. It also *seems to be more responsive to stuff happening next to the road. For example, my car moved over slightly for a person mowing the grass really close to the curb as it was slowing down near an intersection. It may have done that before, I don’t know. But it *felt new. My point is that we can’t jump to conclusions so quickly and I really wish that @Tesla @Tesla_AI @tesla_na @aelluswamy @yunta_tsai @elonmusk would comment here…

THIS IS THE BIGGEST HW3 update we’ve had in MONTHS. 2026.8.6 is not one build. From what I’ve seen across multiple cars, there appear to be 3 variants: 2026.8.6-A, B, and C. My car is on A, and it feels significantly improved. I’m doing 10+ hours of testing tomorrow to learn more. Here are a few confirmed changes: - Reduced Vision Monitoring (seen in A, B, and C) - Improvements to lane selection (A) - Overall smoothness improvement (A) - Roughly 15 to 25% latency reduction (A) - Matches Tentacle Speed to AI4 (the future prediction blue line is smoother and reacts faster, seems to be on A, potentially C as well) - MAJORLY improved “off-road” performance (more confident starting on rock or grass and finding the road without accelerator presses) - Obstacle avoidance improvements Let me know if any of you experience these as well, and check your service mode for your Bank A, B, Trip Weights and AP weights, make sure to leave them in your comment. #2026.8.6 #HW3 #FSD

@koby_pierce I agree! My FSD was working flawlessly for the last few months. I even rebooted and did a camera recalibration to see if it fixed it. I unfortunately haven't been able to use it because the ping ponging at high speeds makes for a very weird driving experience lol.

Go to Controls > Software, then Touch and hold the large “MODEL” text for about 3-5 seconds until a input box pops up. Type “service”, the on the left menu click something that says like “Driver Assist” and then it will have something that says “Autopilot” and below will have Bank A, Bank B, Trip Weights, and AP Weights, just send me a picture of that and I’ll let you know.

Tesla V14.3 self-driving review. The point releases will bring polish. V15 will far exceed human levels of safety, even in completely unsupervised and complex situations.
Zack@BLKMDL3

600 miles in with FSD v14.3 already and here are my thoughts: The improved reaction time is immediately noticeable and definitely quicker than a human could react. Yesterday a semi truck swerved fast into my lane and the car reacted insanely quickly to get me around them. Tesla says it’s 20% quicker but feels more than that- and it was already extremely good. I’ll start by saying FSD was already so great with v14.2 that it’s sometimes hard to find new things, but there some huge apparent changes immediately noticeable with v14.3. To those who think it’s not a big improvement over v14.2.x+, you’ll be very impressed and especially with some more polish. The reinforcement learning upgrades and thinking are noticeable. Parking is where you immediately notice some changes. In the release notes it says that parking is quicker and more decisive and it’s true. It has picked spots closer and quicker to the selected pin. My Y isn’t showing the new P pin graphic for parking pin for some reason, but it’s definitely parking closer than before with more thought to it. Looking forward to eventually getting more options to hopefully park either closer or further away from people. For the very first v14.3+ build, I have to say it’s pretty polished. The only gripe I have is the way it won’t get out of the left lane soon enough on highways. It likes to cruise in the left lane which isn’t ideal, it’s gotten better but the addition of reduction in unnecessary lane changes needs to be dialed back a bit. Lane changes are a huge plus with this build and they are quick, decisive and executed very well, smooth as butter too. Turn signals come on at way better times now in parking lots and at the perfect time on the road. I was lucky enough to get the update with 600 miles left of my 1800 mile Oregon road trip, so I pulled over to install it so I could get as much experience as possible with it to share with you all. So far 600+ miles in, I’m impressed. A few rough edges with the left lane behavior and the last few inches of parking are a bit slow 1/5 times until it puts it into park but with a point release update everything should be dialed in. The 350 mile drive home today from the Bay Area had zero intervention including all parking and charging. One thing I would love to see implemented is a reset button for the FSD stats page. Would be cool to have a specific trip meter for FSD stats on Trip A/B or make your own trip. I’ve been hinting at a pretty cool road trip next month with my 2025 Model 3 so it would be cool to have a reset for that. Speed control seems good on highways, it’s matching traffic speed great. Braking is very impressive for sudden slowdowns, had a big one in San Jose last night it did a great job with from 80-10mph. HUGE improvements with stop sign behavior. The acceleration and deceleration are way smoother than before, much more pleasant. Mad Max takes off strong but again, a better curve than before. Mad Max is also polished a bit and feels great. FSD v14.3 did a great job in LA traffic once I got back and will go out this evening to film videos for everyone on my normal test loops. Let me know if there’s anything specific I should try or check out. Can’t wait to see how v14.3+ progresses especially with the upgraded reasoning coming to all scenarios soon. Some awesome additions here. THANK YOU everyone @Tesla_AI for all the hard work getting this update out. More videos to come.

I Installed 2026 Model 3 (Highland) Suspension in my 2018 Model 3 I was on Reddit about 6 months ago, and stumbled across a post about a guy who installed highland suspension in his 2018 Model 3. He claimed the difference was night and day. Acquiring Parts: Getting parts is easier than you think. You can order the parts online through Tesla's EPC, or contact your local service center using the service tab. Here are the parts you will need: -REAR DAMPER ASSEMBLY(1344465-00-B) 2X -FRONT DAMPER ASSEMBLY- DUAL MOTOR- RIGHT HAND(1344366-01-B) 1X -FRONT DAMPER ASSEMBLY- DUAL MOTOR- LEFT HAND(1344366-00-B) 1X If you have a RWD Model 3, make sure you order the RWD parts. The AWD cars have different front dampers for the CV Axles. I also recommend ordering replacement bolts. They are relatively cheap ($0.50-$1.50 ea.) as some bolts are one time use. The Install: Installing the suspension was harder than I anticipated. The YouTube videos and service manuals made it look easy. I found this video very helpful: youtube.com/watch?v=sq0JlH… Here are a few things that will make the job easier: -Extra set of hands -Two jacks (one to support vehicle, the other to lift lower control arm) -Modified thin walled 13mm socket -Electronic Torque Wrench -Impact driver Make sure you follow the Tesla Service manuals to a T as it makes the job easier. The Result? I was impressed with the result. It does not by any means ride like a Rolls Royce or a Model S, but it feels more floaty while still having the sports car feel. I went on a road trip to Seattle and it felt more cushioned over bridges and bumps. Q&A How long did it take? The front left took about 2 hours (learning). Front right, about 1 hour. The rears took about 20 minutes each. Was it worth it? I would say yes. Do not get your hopes up that it will ride like an S-Class. It is still a Model 3. How difficult was the install on a scale of 1-10? 6. Suspension work without a lift and proper tooling is generally a pain. Can you DIY it? Absolutely. However, have someone help you, and review the service manuals before hand. How much did it cost? The dampers were about $610 before tax. Additionally I purchased spare bolts as some are one time use. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out.
