@Citizens4STL What a complete and utter embarrassment. The organizers of events should have a cleanup crew ready to go as soon as the event ends. Who will take care of this now? Streets? Clean Team? No one?

THREAD—PHOTOS & VIDEOS: Lately, the stretch of Washington Avenue between Tucker BLVD and 14th ST has become an area various organizations have closed for events. Greater St. Louis, Inc. has used it for their repetitive event, “City Social”, and the Mayor and other City officials recently used it to announce Downtown safety initiatives. Yesterday, this area was closed yet again for a local business’s Juneteenth celebration. When these street closures occur, local businesses and residents are not given a choice in the matter. While Downtown should be a gathering place for the region, closing streets populated by businesses and residents is disruptive to those that work and live there, and we need to remember that supporting business and residential growth in Downtown is of utmost importance. Washington Avenue, by square footage, is far more residential and office than it is anything else. We should support the growth of those uses.
