@FrshBakedDisney @JamesGunn Maybe it was shot vertically for vertical theaters. 🙂

Elon Musk in a new interview this morning on Tesla FSD:
"In terms of having self-driving be ubiquitous, I think we’re making steady progress. The Tesla Full Self-Driving software, which is really just AI and cameras, we don’t use radars or LIDAR or anything like that. It’s really trying to drive the car in the same way that a human drives the car, primarily with vision and with a biological neural net. We take the same approach with our vehicles, which is a digital neural net and cameras.
I expect this approach to ultimately be at least an order of magnitude safer than humans driving. It is quite magical because the car feels like it is sentient. It actually feels like it’s alive and you can actually, as we improve the software, feel the sentience growing in the car.
We already have some vehicles operating with no people inside with no safety monitors in three cities in Texas and probably will be widespread in the US by the end of this year and hopefully in Israel too"
Tesla FSD is beginning to feel more and more sentient with each update, it’s incredible. All without the use of Radar or LiDAR. It’s all about the 🧠.

@niccruzpatane @BrianRi73359277 In case it helps, they added HW4 in 2023. That’s also the sweet spot if you care about Steam support, which was removed in 2024
English

@BrianRi73359277 Those are expensive. I’d have to get rid of my 3P which I don’t want to right now.
English

I'm thinking of getting a Model S.
It's the only Tesla we all haven’t owned, and with it being sunsetted, what better time than now? I’d love to experience one.
There are still great deals on the used market. I'm okay with HW3 (it has to be included) since I’ll still have my M3P with AI4.
I'm currently brainstorming and looking for the best options.

@SawyerMerritt I still hope – paging @larsmoravy – that Tesla does not do any noise insulation near the motors of the new Roadster. The motor whine (from just 1 motor!) in the OG Roadster just sounds so COOL. The Teslas now insulate the cabin from that sound. Thankfully no fake V8 sounds though
English

@Greshmon @SawyerMerritt Should have saved that name instead of wasting it on Twitter, which already had a good name
English

@FrshBakedDisney @Omniwill @PeterSciretta @Coach_CPrest The internet has only increased ignorance for a lot of people
English

this quite a valid observation. One that I've always had trouble with. Where did the First Order even come from? Because I could have sworn the Empire was defeated and the universe was cool and everything.
So *within* the same lifetime of the OT heroes, the First Order just shows up and takes control? And we're rebels/resistance again? In 30 years?!
oh, and also...everyone just FORGOT Jedi's? Like...were they real?! Come on! That was just 30 years ago! Like we're just gonna forget 1996?

I doubt Disney would ever do this, but it's obviously the correct move. The sequel trilogy doesn't even fit in with the other Disney Star Wars shows, like Mandalorian and Ahsoka, which depict a robust and fully functioning New Republic... that is somehow utterly destroyed by the First Order (which arrives at full strength out of nowhere) just a few years later.

What are the missing pieces for FSD? I think there are two of them: 1) a nice interface for a human to tell the vehicle their preferences (e.g., preferred parking spot), and 2) a really smart brain (e.g., reading text on signs). Do we need spatial measurements from LiDAR? Nope, it is a solved problem, I’m sorry. x.com/crispy2d/statu…
English

@AIDRIVR Some motorcyclist behind me was losing his mind at me (FSD) for coming to a complete stop at stop signs, aggressively revving his engine and making many gestures. People need to chill
English

@spleck @teslascope @Tesla This kind of stuff probably factored into the decision to eliminate FSD purchases. Tesla is just going to have to eat the ongoing costs for people who own it
English

@spleck @teslascope @Tesla I was aleady assuming that. But sometimes cars will need physical help in random locations. Even the ones with self-cleaning cameras and automatic doors
English

The official plan for HW3 (as of @Tesla's Q1 Call):
– V14 Lite is expected in June, which will include all major features currently available in V14.X.
– A hardware upgrade from HW3 to AI4 (Autopilot Computer and Cameras) will be available.
– And better trade-in offers.
English

@spleck @teslascope @Tesla That would be great. Another thing to consider is if they’ll need to retrofit self-cleaning cameras. But maybe it’s cheaper to send out DoorDashers or eventually Optimus to rescue stranded cars
English

@JasonQG @teslascope @Tesla I wanted to see them repurpose the radar CAN wire pair for a front bumper cam. We shall see. Lol
English

@spleck @teslascope @Tesla Yeah, I imagine it’s probably easier to use lower-power chips for both than retrofitting the power
English

@spleck @teslascope @Tesla The unspoken part about the new version of HW4 might be that it runs on lower power
English

@teslascope @Tesla That’s why I’m hoping. Also helps consolidate more volume into whatever new packaging they put together to fit. It does complicate the power requirements but perhaps hw4 already did that. Will need to ditch the legacy ~12v and retrofit that too for those not already on amd.
English

@spleck @ChuckCook Maybe they think they have navigation solved by some in-progress tech (probably using the fleet to automatically fix maps)
English

@ChuckCook It’s not a preference not to take a wrong turn or wrong lane etc. One would hope if you hit other there’s still a voice note and then they can update the options over time? Otherwise yeah.
English

First few minutes of driving on FSD v14.3.2 in the early morning heading to work.
Attention monitoring seems to be a little bit tighter. I'm getting beeps much more frequently than on the last build.
While I like the concept of having a multiple-choice selection for why I just disengaged. I've said many times recently, the number one reason for disengagement for me is navigation errors, and that's not even an option here. So I guess I'm going to have to put it under preference or other? That seems silly to me. Can we please add navigation as a disengagement option?

English

@SawyerMerritt What does being in the wrong lane qualify as? I guess other? That’s what most disengagements are. Wild that there’s not an appropriate category for it
English

@hechen @SawyerMerritt @Tesla Yeah, @tesla. If you’re having trouble selling out of time, send me an invite too
English

@SawyerMerritt If the Model S Signature Edition is still available, I’ll order one right away if invited @Tesla
English

@spleck @NotATeslaApp I assume it’s a lie to discourage people from holding off on buying a new car
English

@NotATeslaApp Jan AI5 design is complete, and Elon says it’s for cars and Optimus, and AI6 is for Optimus and data centers.
Apr AI5 tape out is complete, and Elon says it’s for Optimus and Data Centers.
Weird to shift the target use case after design is complete and during tape out.
Elon Musk@elonmusk
@imPenny2x AI4 by itself will achieve self-driving safety levels very far above human. AI5 will make the cars almost perfect and greatly enhance Optimus. AI6 will be for Optimus and data centers. AI7/Dojo3 will be space-based AI compute.
