Asmongold compares Rotten Tomatoes scores and accuses them of cooking the books "They can just delete reviews? So they're just making it up. How does anybody take this seriously then?" "The Woman King was rated a 6.9 on Metacritic, but it has a 99% on Rotten Tomatoes. So let me get this straight, this random movie has a higher rating than Lord of the Rings? Fight Club is at 96%, this is lower. The Matrix at 85%. Gladiator at 87%." "So this random movie and The Odyssey are getting better reviews than Gladiator, Lord of the Rings, Fight Club, and Inception. I think there's something wrong here."

Just finished watching the odyssey and I’m going to give my honest full review on it without spoilers My rating would be a clear 9.5/10.0 I can see it being all the way up to a 9.8 I loved that there wasn’t any dull moments in the film, had you engaged throughout the whole 3 hours. There was moments in the film especially in the beginning that felt rushed I assume bc it was filmed on IMAX but other then that was well paced Now some downsides I felt - some of the actors voices in the film through me off and made it seem a bit to modern. I’m not going to name names but once you watch it you will have that feeling or at least I did But once the film settles in a bit you kind of get used to it. Stand out performances of course go to Matt Damon and Ann Hathaway. Overall some of Christopher Nolan’s best work. Go watch it TRUST ME it’s worth it.

Just saw The Odyssey. Despite what you may have heard, literally all of the criticisms by conservatives were entirely correct. The movie is just as woke as you fear, if not more so. The DEI casting is atrocious. Completely takes you out of the story right from the beginning. But even worse than that is Nolan’s decision to turn Odysseus into an anachronistic whiney, solemn shell of a man plagued by “trauma” and guilt. It’s impossible to overlook these flaws because the film itself is not terribly entertaining or well constructed. For the most part it is disjointed, dull, self-serious, disenchanted, somehow feeling both verbose and overly rushed at the same time. The dialogue is some of the worst I’ve ever heard in a “critically acclaimed” film. “On the nose” and “clunky” are descriptions that can’t even begin to describe this script. At no point in the story does Nolan ever transport the audience to the ancient world. You never feel like you’re 3,000 years in the past. You feel like you’re watching modern Americans put on a pageant, because you are. Nobody would be calling this thing a masterpiece if it was made by a director not named Christopher Nolan.

Because it's so bad they hired an army of bots to supersaturate socials after cancelling all previews. IT'S THAT BAD Y'ALL. THEY HAD TO GET AS MANY PEOPLE TO WATCH IT THIS WEEKEND BEFORE THEY GET COMPLETELY DESTROYED BY WEIRD OF MOUTH. SERIOUSLY!!! THEY HAD A GIRL COSPLAY AS A WARRIOR RIGHT OF THE BAT. IT DIDN'T EVEN FOLLOW THE ACTUAL PLOT, THEY MADE UP CHARACTERS, MADE DAMON LOOK LIKE A USELESS MORON.

the odyssey did well at the box office. That's cool, it doesn't make it a "great movie" but it does put into prospective the power of the "anti-hollywood" Youtube space. Youtube & X are not real life. We should have learned this in 2016.

I say this with sadness, not anger: If you bought a ticket for the Odyssey this weekend, you have surrendered the right to complain about Hollywood ruining movies. Your words & actions are not in alignment. You cannot lead others, because you can’t even follow yourself.

A white straight male returning to his literal damsel in distress wife is now somehow "feminist?" A movie where women are portrayed as witches and manipulating whores keeping a man captive for 7 years? Or how no man should listen to the sounds of naked women on some rocks or go crazy? This is what feminists are to you?

@DiscussingFilm He twisted the epic to fit his DEI Oscar check ☑️. Sinon is from Virgil and he added woke moral guilt that never existed. He should be ashamed for what he did to Homer's vision, twisting lessons that stand with time to fit a political narrative. x.com/i/status/20788…
Jeff B@jeffb198712

Nolan cast Elliot Page as Sinon in his DEI Odyssey movie yet Sinon is never mentioned once by Homer at all and definitely does not appear or speak during the events at the shore or anywhere else in the poem. In Odyssey Book 11 Odysseus reaches the edge of Oceanus and beaches the ship in the dark land of the Cimmerians where he digs a trench a cubit long and wide with his sword before pouring libations of milk mixed with honey then sweet wine and water while sprinkling white barley meal. He then cuts the throats of a ram and a black ewe so their dark blood fills the trench and the shades of the dead come swarming up from Erebus. Elpenor is the first to speak as he begs for proper burial then Tiresias drinks the blood and delivers the prophecy about leaving the cattle of the sun untouched and the later inland journey with an oar. Odysseus next speaks with his mother Anticleia who tells him she died of pure grief for him followed by the parade of famous women then Agamemnon who recounts his murder by Clytemnestra and Aegisthus then Achilles who declares he would rather live as a hired hand on earth than rule over all the dead while Ajax stands apart in silence still angry over the arms and finally the shade of Heracles. Sinon belongs only to Virgils Aeneid Book 2 where Trojan shepherds capture him with his hands bound and drag him before King Priam. He weeps and spins a long false tale claiming that Odysseus first destroyed his kinsman Palamedes then later arranged for him to be chosen by lot as the human sacrifice the seer Calchas demanded so the Greeks could gain fair winds for home after which he escaped the night before they could kill him. He was never a great warrior. He further claims the great wooden horse is an offering meant to appease Minerva for the theft of her Palladium by Odysseus and Diomedes and that if the Trojans destroy the horse their city will fall but if they bring it inside their walls they will conquer Greece in turn. The Trojans believe every word and hauled the horse into the city and that night Sinon opens its belly to release the hidden warriors while also unbarring the gates so Troy is burned. Homers epics stand the test of time because they left real lessons and thought engraved into Western culture for eternity. The Odyssey shows the lasting cost of arrogance when Odysseus reveals his name to the Cyclops and brings years of Poseidons pursuit. It also shows that ignoring clear warnings destroys men as the crew learns when they eat the cattle of the sun against every command. Achilles and Odysseus both teach the same core lesson. Achilles in the underworld says he would rather live as a hired hand on a poor farm than rule as king over all the dead. Odysseus is offered immortality and life with a goddess yet turns it down so he can return home as a mortal man to his wife son and the land he can actually live and die for. A life with meaning is better than a life without.
