Earlier the Zeliangrong Unite Front under their Leader had exposed the Wicked, Cunning Plans of Tangkhuls to instigate Zeliangrongs. He said they're against Violence and want no part in the Tangkhuls Kuki Conflict. So, the Tangkhuls in order to drag the Zeliangrongs into the conflict Used the Kamson group to attack kuki and provoke the Zeliangrongs. To do so they ambushed a delegation of Kukizo Christian Leaders who were returning after a Church Conference in Lamka, murdering 3 and injuring some others. Press Statement The Kuki CSO Working Committee, Ukhrul strongly condemns the misleading and inflammatory allegations circulated by the Meitei Alliance regarding the incidents reported in Kamjong district on 7th May 2026. The Committee states that such narratives are based on unverified claims, speculative assertions, and deliberate attempts to communalise and politicise a sensitive security issue without credible evidence or independent verification. The Committee firmly rejects repeated attempts to portray the incident as “foreign aggression” and to blame Myanmar-based Kuki militant groups despite the clarification made by the Hon’ble Home Minister of Manipur, Shri Govindas Konthoujam, who stated after visiting the affected villages that such terminology was not included in the official reports submitted to the Government. The Committee further expresses serious concern over the misinformation propagated by NSCN-IM and Eastern Flank sympathisers in Kamjong and Ukhrul districts, which attempt to misrepresent attacks on Kuki villages while concealing prevailing ground realities. Such propaganda only creates hostility between communities and further inflames tensions during an already fragile situation. At the same time, the continued silence surrounding the burning of Lanchah village in Kamjong district has exposed the selective approach adopted toward violence against Kuki communities. Despite the seriousness of the incident, no meaningful condemnation was issued by major organisations, raising concerns over institutional indifference and selective outrage. The Kuki CSO Working Committee, Ukhrul also raises concern regarding reports of obstruction of lawful security operations and movement of security forces in certain areas by organised groups attempting to shield armed cadres. Any interference with lawful operations undermines the rule of law, emboldens armed actors, and threatens the safety and security of innocent civilians. The Committee calls upon the Government of India and the State authorities to conduct an impartial investigation into armed activities, communal propaganda, and incidents obstructing lawful security operations in Kamjong and Ukhrul districts. The Committee reiterates that no community should be demonised on the basis of unverified allegations lacking judicial scrutiny or independent investigation. The Kuki CSO Working Committee, Ukhrul remains committed to peace, justice, coexistence, constitutional values, and the protection of innocent civilians.
