The contractors of previous DMK regime in their hurry to make quick bucks are totally violating the court orders regarding the renovation activities of Kanchipuram Sri Devarajaswamy Temple, which are detrimental to the structure's heritage value. The Hon'ble Madras High Court in its verdict dated 23rd Feb 2026 on "Krishna Devaraya vs The Commissioner" clearly put a pause to the renovation activities until the submission of a new report by the sub committee of SLEC which was ordered to carry out an on-site inspection of the temple. This inspection was carried out on 2nd April 2026. However the report on the same is yet to be submitted. In such a case, beginning the work to lay stone flooring over the existing centuries old granite flooring on the 16 pillared Mandapam of the temple is a clear violation of the court's mandate. It must be noted that this act of laying stone flooring was not approved by either the SLEC or the heritage commission. The contractors seem to be doing this either to earn quick money before being shown the door under the new regime or under the approval of the Commissioner and Assistant Commissioner of HRCE, who have been hell bent on violating various court orders over the last 12 months. Hoping that the new regime under @CMOTamilnadu takes note of these activities which are detrimental to the heritage value of this millennium old temple and follows the court's mandate as expected of a just regime.

Happy to see govt authorities like @ASIGoI finally paying heed to our repeated requests by putting up boards to remove footwear in Narasimha & Badava Linga temples of Hampi. We request them to extend this rule to other temples as well, since they are abodes of deities.

Shri Vinoth Raghavendran - a rare @BJP4India functionary who actually and sincerely fights for temple welfare in Courts filed a Writ Petition before Madurai Bench which came up for hearing today challenging the illegal tenders floated by the unscrupulous @tnhrcedept Shri Suresh Palaniappan, learned counsel for the Petitioner - pointed out the various lapses and violations in the Tenders called for by the Executive Officer of Pazhani Devasthanam - a person functioning in the temple by A FRAUD on the Statute. The Hon'ble Division Bench not only passed orders stopping all the tender works by ordering STATUS QUO - it also ordered an inspection of the Tender matters by a retired Judge of Madras High Court -Justice (Retd.) 🚩 HUGE VICTORY for Hindu Devotees! A historic judgment by the Hon'ble Division Bench Madras High Court paves the way to restore the sanctity of Temple Administration! The Madurai Bench of Madras HC of Hon. Justice Dr. Anita Sumanth and Hon. Justice Shri C. Kumarappan (Order dt 23.01.2026) has QUASHED the Govt's unilateral orders ₹40 Cr "Iconic Project" at Sri Kallazhagar Temple - illegally using the temple funds and properties. The Bench held that using surplus funds without Sec 36 sanctions is ILLEGAL. The "Iconic Project" stands quashed. The Court slammed the @tnhrcedept "To have a major temple managed by a Fit Person/EO for decades is a TRAVESTY of Law." ****Proposals MUST emanate from Trustees, not the Minister or the State**** Key takeaways: 1. State cannot treat Temples as its "personal fiefdom." 2. Trustees are Supreme; EOs are merely temporary staff. The presence of the Executive Officer in this temple is illegal. The Court ruled that Executive Officers (EOs) cannot squat in temples indefinitely (like the 50+ years at Kallazhagar). 3. Temple funds cannot be diverted for "crass commercial development." 4. Heritage & Agamas prevail over concrete structures. 5. No concrete structures near ancient shrines/water bodies. 6 . ASI & Local planning permissions are MANDATORY for Sri Kallazhagar Temple. There are many time-bound directions given by the Hon'ble Bench to the Government and @tnhrcedept in this order. Let's see if these instrumentalities obey the directions of the Court in this latest judgments or they brazenly disobey them as they done in the case of publication of audit reports and in the Tirupparankundram Case. The era of the Department ruling over the Deity will be soon over. Power will be back where it belongs—with the Trustees who follow the law - and more importantly who follow Temple Dharma !
