So sad. Sleep well RPD Jerry. Thank you for your service. Our thoughts are with Paul and your family.

💜𝐆𝐨𝐨𝐝𝐧𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐑𝐏𝐃 𝐉𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐲💜 We are very sorry to share we have lost a member of the NFRSA family. RPD Jerry from @GMPDogs has travelled over Rainbow Bridge aged 13. Jerry was handled by Paul, and was the epitome of an old-fashioned police dog with @gmpolice. He meant business and never failed to succeed. His nose was legendary and his skill as a General Purpose Police Dog was exemplary. He saved lives, he detained suspects, and he knew his job - and yet at home he was a poppet. Jerry retired to his handlers family, and his little human best friends Logan and Lexi are devastated to lose their huge protector. He leaves behind his other friends, PD Flash, and the family pet, Poppy, who are also both lost without him. He’ll no doubt meet up with his old pal, RPD Banjo, who passed away last year. We somehow think they’ll be having a bit of fun together now. Our thoughts are with Paul and his family as they become accustomed to his loss. Sleep well Jerry - thank you for your service. 💜🐾💜 The NFRSA is a UK charity supporting retired dogs and horses from the police, fire & rescue, prison, NCA, border force, & NHS with vet bills. When animals retire, their funding stops. The NFRSA helps ensure they enjoy their Golden Years without their families experiencing the financial worry, by assisting with those medical costs. With 450+ members, and over £150,000 given in grants to date, (85 grants so far in 2025 alone), we hope you will join us.

We have said goodbye to another old friend - RPD Cosmic from @DC_Police who has sadly crossed over rainbow bridge, aged 10 and a half. Cosmic served for 8 years, completing an amazing career, assisting in endless arrests, finding evidence, and saving lives throughout Cornwall with @CornwallDogs He was born with @DC_PoliceDogs and puppy-walked by Lindsay @LadyLobby and her husband Anthony, and adored by their daughter Maisie - before being handled to Sgt James Little. An amazing partnership, Cosmic was also a huge part of James’s family life, and his daughter Pippa had an especially close bond with their gentle giant. On the streets, Cosmic was a large presence and suspects would take one look at the imposing police dog and make the sensible choice of giving up, rather than have a close encounter with those pearly whites! When Cosmic retired, while James would have loved to have kept him, it was not possible and he happily returned to his original family, this time Lindsay’s Mum and Dad, Trevor and Linda, who had the joy of his company, and he lived the rest of his life being spoiled and loved by all. Our founder Lady Bathurst, met Cosmic on her Lands End to John ‘O’Groats bike ride when he received his Long Service Award from @ACCLeaper. Dear Cosmic left for his next adventure when he suddenly lost the use of his back legs, and he did so surrounded by the love of his family, who are devastated. Our thoughts are with all who knew and loved RPD Cosmic, his family, his handler and the Little family, as well as his colleagues. Sleep well Cosmic and thank you for your service. Safe travels big lad. 💜🐾💜🐾💜

Albert called to a car sales garage where a car was stolen. His handler sighted the car which was located abandoned a short time later. Albert tracked to an address where the male forced entry and caused damage. The male arrested for 2x burglary and theft of a motor vehicle 👌🏼🐾

I would like to post my own tribute to PD Lenny who recently passed. I imported him from Germany at 4 months, raised him, he sired the D litter with Sasha, & completed an Initial with me. My thanks to handlers Ali, Steve and especially Vikki who gave him a brilliant life. 🥲

Sad news. We have said a fond farewell to the legend that was RPD Lenny, or The Lendog as he was known to his nearest and dearest, on the 25th February 2025. Lenny served with @DevonPoliceDogs and @DC_Police for 7 years before retiring last year to his handler. Lendog was a legend and a fearsome police dog. He was walked by Paul Glennon @DC_PoliceDogs, before he was handled to Ali, then Steve, and finally to Vikki. Lenny’s work was exceptional, his defense of his handlers unquestionable, and his tracking was outstanding. On one occasion Lenny tracked a suspected target arsonist over a mile through urban streets, around the houses, into a block of flats, up several flights of stairs, straight to a door, where the man was found washing his clothes & disposing of evidence. No visual aids, no descriptions, no doorbell videos, just extraordinary nose work. On another occasion, Vikki stopped a car and the occupant turned violent, throwing her against her vehicle. Vikki managed to release Lenny & he unhesitatingly detained the suspect who proceeded to grab Lenny in a headlock, punching him repeatedly in the face. After another chase, the suspect, who was high on drugs and alcohol, was apprehended by Lenny who refused let go, despite his earlier attack. The criminal was successfully prosecuted. Lenny was a legend, admired and respected. and he will be greatly missed, not just by Vikki, who adored him, but by everyone who knew this truly unique personality - including us all here at the NFRSA. It was our privilege to take care of the entirety of Lenny’s final bill. Sleep well Lendog, you’re safely over Rainbow Bridge, and rolling in any mud you can find. You deserve your rest. Thank you for being you. 💜

My wife’s birthday yesterday and a pub lunch was the order of the day. Lots of distractions but taking a small pigs ear everywhere with me is a godsend. Also a very well behaved dog nearby also helped. 👍😂

As we look forward to the New Year and 2025, we wanted to once more share what we do. The National Foundation for Retired Service Animals is a UK registered charity that supports the owners of retired dogs and horses from the Police; Fire & Rescue; Prison; Border Force; NHS; and NCA services with medical bills.  When an animal retires, all funding stops, meaning owners are responsible for all vet costs for the rest of the animals life.  As is widely recognised vets fees are rising, resulting in owners facing the challenge of funding those bills from their own pockets. This can be a worrying prospect and the NFRSA’s mission is to assist by giving grants to help meet those demands.  Furthermore, the charity does not request, or expect ‘membership fees’ from owners of retired animals, as they feel they have given more than enough with their amazing service. If handlers and owners choose to donate or fundraise, then we always appreciate it, hugely!, and many do, which is absolutely amazing and we are so grateful. But it is not, and never will be, a condition of our assistance, which comes with nothing but gratitude, compassion, and love. The NFRSA has gifted well over £110,000 since its launch in 2022, and it is a privilege to acknowledge the service these extraordinary animals have given to their communities, and the wider public.  Our motto is to ‘Protect Our Protectors’ and as we look forward to the New Year, our mission is to do just that. Please join us, and if you’d like to help by perhaps considering making a monthly donation, even the price of a cup of coffee, it will make an enormous difference to the animals we all support. Thank you for travelling alongside us on this extraordinary journey. You are all appreciated, and we can’t thank you enough for being there - one way you could help immediately is by sharing this post! Happy New Year. Here’s to 2025 - bring it on!! nfrsa.org.uk Pic is RPD Corrie from @PSOSDogs and @PoliceScotland - one of the earlier recipients of a grant.

Julie. Knowing how much you loved and cared for Sasha and knowing how broken hearted you would be I hesitated at putting anything on X over Xmas about her passing. I guessed you would post a tribute when you were ready. Thank you for giving her the best life.
Julie Prowse@JulieProwse4

Sadly, my lovely Sasha went to rest just before Christmas. I treasured every moment spent with her and will now treasure every memory. Thank you to Paul & Di for the best gift ever. She was a wonderful mum @DC_PoliceDogs D & E litters and will live on through them.
