@FixingEducation No teacher should be compelled to enter a certain grade. That said, if you 0 zero a kid the entire quarter, they have no chance of recovery. From a child's view, with no chance of recovery, why would I every try again? An F is an F. The difference is one gives a chance.

@GoRomano Appreciate that. I'm sure the critics will accuse me of being too lenient on Stepinac and the school will wish I shouted louder in defense. There's been so much of both already and many are not totally informed. I try equip the public with the info to shape their own opinions.

Keep an eye on what's happening in Pennsylvania athletics. A state many NY admins point to when defending the current system here could be on the verge of a major restructure.

The change to NCAA bylaws which allows schools to not enter athletes into the portal if a rev-share agreement releases the school from the obligation hasn’t gotten enough attention. Schools can now essentially prevent athletes from engaging with other schools during the portal.

@Coach__Strick And all the kids who have already reclassed? Some kids need the extra year to get mature for college. Has there been more info on reclass kids? I would feel more comfortable if the clock started at 20

I’m personally not a fan of this 5 years in 5. What happens to kids who reclass or start kindergarten late? They won’t get a 5th year? What happens then if they get injured in college? They won’t get a 5th year ? I’m interested in thoughts… but having a uniform rules seems tough

@CoachKatie_K I hope the reclass kids don’t get to play senior year. That is the best part.

@LetCounty @CoachWB33 I’m looking at their roster - tell me what kids are from NYC and/or Buffalo? I see parents at games - maybe this is happening in NYC privates where you can hop on transit and move easily between boroughs but kids are commuting 150-200 miles to attend HS with no dorms.

The public vs private high school debate in NY is interesting. If associated with a public school u claim that the privates recruit & they do. With that being said, the best public school programs/coaches are recruiting as well. Just the reality of the situation. #JustCompete

@LetCounty @CoachWB33 What private school has out of State kids or foriegn players on their roster? The CBA boys team has been there since 6th & 7th grade. There were no giants (kids over 6’8”) on that team, so when they were 12-13 yrs old are you saying CBA recruited them?

@NorvintheHusky @CoachWB33 That is illegal. It should be investigated. It is a crime in fact. If there is proof of that, go to the police. Those people should be prosecuted.

@LetCounty @CoachWB33 Private schools set up different in NYC and LI than Upstate. It is widely known the biggest public schools and many city schools up here recruit way more than the CBA’s of the world. Kids are using fake addresses and driving 30 minutes or living with an aunt just for sports.
