“It’s not just clashes between protesters and ICE; it’s an attack on basic rights that we’ve taken for granted,” says Minnesota Public Radio reporter Jon Collins. interc.pt/4qqC3lF

I am impeaching Secretary Kristi Noem, who is an incompetent leader and a disgrace to our democracy. She wreaked havoc in the Chicagoland area and has brought her reign of terror to Minneapolis. One of her rogue ICE agents shot and killed an innocent woman today. It must come to an end.

Hawaiʻi is in a housing state of emergency. 1 in 3 families are thinking about leaving the place they call home. With median home prices starting at $1M, our kamaʻāina are being priced out of Hawaiʻi itself. This is the moment for an affordable housing moonshot. Not small fixes. Not modest investments. Bold, decisive action—now. That means appropriating $150B by passing the Housing Crisis Response Act. Fully funding the Housing Trust Fund. Using federal lands to build homes. Modernizing and dramatically expanding the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit. That is the difference between families staying or leaving, between our keiki growing up here or saying goodbye. We must act now so our ʻohana can live, work, and thrive at home.

On January 14 Heber Sanchez Dominguez, a husband and father of 2, died under ICE detention. We still don’t know the cause of death. I am closely monitoring this case, demanding immediate transparency and accountability from ICE. Every individual in federal custody is owed basic human dignity and safety. ajc.com/news/2026/01/m…

Hard-working Americans have earned their Social Security benefits with every paycheck. We must support and extend the program so that no one has to unexpectedly return to work in their 70's or 80's just to feed themselves.

This is a government takeover. Plain and simple. Elon Musk and DOGE should be nowhere near the CDC.   DOGE is something Trump and Elon made up to act as their undemocratic attack force. #FireElonMusk

Yesterday, HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. reinstated billions of dollars in Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) grants that he had cancelled less than 24 hours earlier. While I am glad that Secretary Kennedy heard the outrage of elected officials, community leaders, accountability courts, law enforcement, patient advocates, and families across our country who are coping with the challenges of addiction and mental health, these SAMHSA grants should never have been jeopardized in the first place. Unfortunately, this is not the first time this Administration acted haphazardly in its continued disregard of Congress to break the partnerships we have built with communities across the country that empower hard-working Americans to improve their quality of life. At a time when Georgians are asking Congress and the President to focus on affordability because they face skyrocketing healthcare costs, high food prices, and expensive housing, we need stability and not chaos like we saw yesterday. bishop.house.gov/media-center/p…

It’s a glorious day for the beginning of a new golden age in America. Congratulations, President @realDonaldTrump, on being sworn in as our next Commander-in-Chief. The American people wanted real change, and I look forward to supporting your agenda in getting our country back on track and undoing the damage done, both domestically and abroad, by the previous administration.
