I am primarily done on this platform. As I used to use it for academic articles and policy pieces, most of that is now gone. So, I am moving to Bluesky under mitchlingo.bsky.social.

As a girl dad, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve dropped feminine hygiene products off at school because they were needed unexpectedly and not provided. Calling him Tampon Tim should be a badge of honor.

John Adams and Thomas Jefferson - founding fathers and apparently radicals for believing in public education for every child, with systems of accountability to ensure public dollars are used wisely, and without private or religious involvement.

An additional 15 million decent-paying jobs will be available within the next decade. Who will fill them? A new ⁦@GeorgetownCEW⁩ report shows a vast majority will require a higher education, with 66% requiring at least a bachelor’s degree. cew.georgetown.edu/cew-reports/go…

What do tax cuts for the rich do? They increase inequality. They have no effect on economic growth or unemployment. "Our results provide strong evidence against the influential political–economic idea that tax cuts for the rich ‘trickle down’ to boost the wider economy."

@timgill924 The person’s child you strike up a conversation with’s child could be the next Bourdieu, so you at least have that going for you in East Bumble.

It’s gotta suck for grad students who do grad school in the Chicago area then get a job in East Bumble, Nebraska, or some such. You go from a place where you can strike up a chat about Bourdieu in any number of coffee houses to somewhere people wanna talk agriculture. Jeez…

Today, @hamiltonproj published new research highlighting the exceptional role of prime age women in the recent labor market recovery. However, the work identifies one group for whom labor force participation growth has recently stalled amidst widespread progress overall. 1/

I prosecuted sex predators. Trump is one. I shut down for-profit scam colleges. He ran one. I held big banks accountable. He's owned by them. I'm not just prepared to take on Trump, I'm prepared to beat him.

On Bill Maher, Secretary of Transportation @PeteButtigieg talks about @JDVance1: “I know a lot of guys like JD Vance…they say whatever they need to say to get ahead.” He then compares Vance to his former home state Governor Mike Pence. Buttigieg talks about Pence being an Evangelical who threw away his principles in order to gain power by being Trump’s Vice-President only to end up four years later being targeted by Trump’s supporters at the US Capitol. He says that he hopes that things do not turn out the same way for Vance. On Trump’s growing group of Silicon Valley billionaires, Buttigieg says: “These are very rich man who have decided to back the Republican party which does very good things for very rich men.”

If the #RNC2024 were serious about crime prevention, one way they’d show it is by investing in public schools—not voucher schemes. New results from Michigan adds to the tally of overwhelming evidence that school spending has broad social benefits.

@elonmusk When billionaires come together to purchase the presidency of the United States, the only question you should ask yourself is…What are they getting in return for their investment?
