@LizardNettle @GroovySciFi @pepemonizzo1 Buddy, it's boiled eggs, mayo, and bread. It's made fresh daily. If you think a 7-11 logo somehow removes all the nutrition then make it yourself at home but about a million zoomers on Twitter have insisted this week that they couldn't possibly make their own sandwich.

@Crime_Penguin Nonsense. Old used cars and trucks are insanely expensive. The market is speaking.

Stated vs revealed preferences. Talk to any car salesman and they’ll tell you people love Apple CarPlay, 360 cameras, blind spot detection, etc. People repost stuff like this all day, nobody calls their Congressman and asks for the federal backup-camera mandate to be repealed.

@ChadNotChud Notably this doesnt specify that you will always be teleported to the surface of the ocean. And there is a lot of ocean at depths that would kill you in 30 seconds

The ocean is so big that it seems pretty unlikely you end up somewhere very dangerous. Doesn’t seem like there’s a lot that could kill you in 30 seconds? Even drowning. (I guess getting bashed into rocks, but surely this is vanishingly unlikely. There’s just not that much coast)

@battlehateharm It's hard to feed millions of people with hedgerows and tree lines to deal with. But you're welcome to farm your way if you like.

Physical books in 2026 are for people who don't actually read. They are for people that pretend to read. If I had access to a Kindle paper white with its inventory/space utilization capability, perfect adjustable backlight and font settings as a kid in the 80s I would've been in heaven. Now I read 3 - 5 books every week and I don't have to maintain a physical inventory that would overwhelm my home. There is just no comparison in terms of access and value.

@RudeJackalope @_space_punk_ Counter intuitive is what you need. You feel badly, you need to do something you wouldn’t think of doing yourself in order to change that. When you’re in an irrational state of mind, you will think your problems are rational. They’re not. Everything is just your perception

CBT is genuinely actively harmful for people with genuine mental health issues (like trauma) beyond "idk sometimes I feel sad" The thing about trauma is it is *highly logical*, so telling someone whos been punched in the face everytime they've seen a red balloon that its not logical to brace for being punched in the face every time they see a red balloon is not at all helpful

CBT seems like the dumbest most useless therapy technique ever invented until you meet the kind of person CBT was designed for

@DHuskytron Why are we still funding libraries when paper books are ridiculously antiquated and a detriment to the environment? All my kids and their friends use a device to read with the more voracious readers using Kobo or Kindle. Is this just so the "adults" can wallow in nostalgia?

@Zacbunchanumbrs 28 sounds a bit much - but it isnt far off. If you want semi-healthy food, you're looking at 20ish a meal nowadays. If you want cheaper, you're looking at uni-level dood prep like chicken and rice. This talk for 70k a year is wild btw

@KurouPS4 @TerraDraca @ShitpostRock2 This is absolutely a factor. 5e is faster if everyone is actually keeping track of their shit, if theyre not then you have to sit there and watch them look up 3 rules for 5 minutes while everyone else doomscrolls. close to establishing a turn time limit in my irl games honestly

@TerraDraca @ShitpostRock2 Different strokes for different folks, I guess. In my experience, that's not the case. It was also a hell of a lot faster because people weren't sitting there for ten minutes every turn to figure out what their feats did.

It's because TVs aren't subsidized by the government. The reason Doritos are so expensive is because, up until recently, people on welfare could get them with SNAP, so PepsiCo could charge whatever they wanted and had no reason to care whether or not you could afford it because their primary clientele were people who were using your tax dollars to buy them. You pay more because someone else is getting it for "free", and by "free", I mean you're paying for it with your taxes. Since the government doesn't buy TVs for people (with your money), TV manufacturers have to price competitively, hence the low TV prices.
Jum@JesterJum

While the price of virtually everything else skyrockets, the price of TVs remain weirdly low. Its almost like they don't want to price people out of the ability to be distracted, manipulated, and controlled. Anyone else notice that? Or is it just me?
