"perma offline mode" literally every emulator for consoles with local or online features has full support for them, usually also support for crossplay for hardware I love playing older games on official hardware, but let's not pretend that emulation isn't easily capable of this

Dave: - Nobody wants to set up Windows with a Microsoft account, then create and switch to a secondary local account. - macOS doesn't require an Apple ID, though many features, especially the store, require it. You retired years ago, you don't need to defend these practices anymore.

I don't know who needs to hear this, but you don't need a Microsoft account to run Windows. You do need a Microsoft burner account to set up the FIRST account during setup, same as MacOS. After that, set up all the local accounts you like. It's what I do. Total time delta: 3 minutes.
