@nextradio_ug @SpireJim was right in his book "what died when we lived", he wrote that soon, anybody will be suitable for political office in Uganda. Listening to this guy now and then, there is no reason why Ugandans should consider high credentials for one to qualify for office

Judiciary Uganda
Judiciary Uganda@JudiciaryUG·
As part of ongoing efforts to strengthen access to justice and deepen public trust, the Judiciary’s Registry of Communications and Public Relations conducted a public sensitization session at Lugazi High Court and Chief Magistrate’s Court, aimed at informing court users and the general public about the newly established High Court in the area. Speaking during the session, the Assistant Registrar of Lugazi High Court, HW Dorothy Kyampire, informed residents that High Court services have officially been extended to Lugazi and that the station now has a Resident Judge. She explained that all High Court matters will henceforth be handled at Lugazi, eliminating the need for court users to travel to Mukono High Court. She described the development as a significant milestone in expanding access to justice and urged members of the public to attend the official launch scheduled for Monday, 2nd March, which will be presided over by the Chief Justice. She emphasized that the Judiciary remains committed to serving the public efficiently and professionally. The Chief Magistrate of Lugazi, HW Roseline Nsenge, guided attendees through the process of accessing court services. She explained that all matters begin at the Registry and are processed through the Electronic Court Case Management Information System (ECCMIS), a digital platform designed to enhance efficiency, case tracking, and transparency. She clarified that cases are uploaded into the system by licensed advocates or lawyers attached to Justice Centres offering legal aid services. She also introduced court staff to the public and appreciated court users for their active participation, assuring them that concerns raised would be addressed. Senior Principal Magistrate Grade One, HW Ronald Nsobya Kamya, educated the public on Mediation and the Small Claims Procedure, noting that the initiatives were introduced to reduce delays and ensure faster disposal of cases. He explained that mediation saves time and costs while promoting amicable resolution of disputes. He also cautioned litigants against engaging unqualified individuals, commonly referred to as “bush lawyers,” and encouraged them to seek assistance from licensed legal practitioners. Magistrate Grade One, HW Joan Nakhmista Napokoli, explained the Plea Bargaining process, describing it as an Alternative Dispute Resolution mechanism primarily used in criminal matters to promote timely and efficient case resolution. Moderating the session, Senior Client Service Officer, Ms. Halimah Kaggwa emphasized integrity and accountability in court processes. She informed the public that all court payments must be made through the bank and cautioned that no court staff should request money directly from court users. She also guided participants on the bail refund process. Ms Kaggwa urged members of the public to utilise the Judiciary toll free number to give feedback about court services in the area. The awareness engagement attracted court staff, legal practitioners, and members of the public, providing an interactive platform for dialogue and clarification

Thank you @UgandaEC for this engagement. Studies have shown that there is a correlation between elections and governance. The nature and pattern of elections in any country reflects to a very large extent in the nature and pattern of governance. This is because if leaders emerge from a flawed and rigged elections, they are not likely to govern in a way that meets the needs of the people because they are not the ones that elected them and may not depend on them to be victorious at the polls subsequently. But the reverse would be the case when leaders emerge from free, fair and credible elections, such leaders would want to put people into consideration in the governance process by trying as much as possible to satisfy their needs and aspirations because without that they stand the risk of being voted out in subsequent elections. This explains why it is imperative and desirable to have free, fair and credible elections because the outcome of such elections can positively impact governance which ultimately will help to promote the well-being of the citizens. @ngoforum @SarahBireete @NkwatsibweC @IsoobaMoses

Any election can be a terminal election, but it can also be an extension of the presidency.” Raymond Mujuni That reflection by journalist Raymond Mujuni hit deep during the national dialogue. It reminded us that the choices we make today shape the political culture we live under tomorrow. The conversation made one thing clear: Uganda’s future demands a transparent, accountable system that upholds rights and embraces civic dialogue, not just during elections but all year round. Join the call for stronger civic education, more transparency, and human rights-centered leadership. Together, we can make democracy real for everyone.

@COTFONE believes that Assessment of citizens’ concerns, aspirations, and priorities for the upcoming elections is very important for promoting good governance. Leaders seeking positions in leadership therefore need to show greater political will to become more open, and this needs to be manifested in bold actions rather than simple declarations. @IsoobaMoses @NkwatsibweC #Towards2026

Thank you @UgandaEC for this continued positive Civil Society-Electoral Commission collaboration on civic engagement in Uganda after your active participation at the recently concluded High-Level Stakeholders’ Dialogue on Human Rights and Elections organised by @ngoforum in Collaboration with @UHRC_UGANDA. Its time to localise these engagements to reach the masses at the grassroots communities and let @COTFONE know your willingness and availability to engage at similar engagements in Greater Masaka! At @COTFONE, we believe Democracy has long been defined as “government of the people, by the people and for the people”. This means that democracy is people’s government, if it is people’s government it requires involvement of the people in the whole of the governance processes. The views, interests and needs of people ought to be taken more serious and efforts made by leaders planning to stand in the forthcoming election to meet them when they get themselves involved in governance one way of the other. @democracynow @ntvuganda @NkwatsibweC @IsoobaMoses #Towards2026
