YES for cascade testing -- Lp(a) has a co-dominant inheritance meaning a gene from a single parent is enough to generate increased concentrations of Lp(a)-P. Thus, all first-degree relatives should be evaluated with this once in a lifetime test - can be life-saving to know

@logww45 @Drlipid Let's say you have high Lp(a) levels...remember you have two LPA genes contributing, one from your mother and one from your father. But, one normally doesn't know if that is because you have two genes giving you high Lp(a), or one gene that contributes a lot and the other a bit.

One key fact that everyone should know about Lp(a): Comprehensive cardiometabolic screening and management using just lipids and basic biometrics is incomplete without also considering a one-time Lp(a) value for the individual. Lp(a) + lipoproteins + IR + glycemic status + noninvasive imaging results + inflammation + biometrics + clinical history
