The killing of Alex Pretti is a heartbreaking tragedy. It should also be a wake-up call to every American, regardless of party, that many of our core values as a nation are increasingly under assault.

yeet@Awk20000

Hasan compares Democrats & Republicans on police brutality “A lot of democrats like to say oh this kind of police brutality would never happen if a Democrat was elected..obviously not the case..people don’t remember BLM started in Ferguson under Obama”

@TheGeekOfEvery1 @ChaseBrowe32432 Neuro is literally chatgpt. One part pipes it out to some other generative ai for voice and other part allows it to interact with pc (still through chatgpt). Only thing vedal added is the inteface between chatgpt and his computer/twitch chat. So stop the cope

@ChaseBrowe32432 The keyword here is 'traditional' That word not referring to historical practice but general practice. Neuro is not bad because she mostly does not fit the criteria of the bad ai. She does not use excess energy or compute She can't be used by the general public to plagiarize 1/2

"genAI" is one of the most interesting terms for me to see, recently. It ostensibly means something objective ("generative AI" -- something which itself defines a fickle line in ML terms). But in reality, it is not actually ever used in relation to that meaning. It's simply a marker of preference. The result is when those who hate "genAI" end up liking something like Neuro, they run into cognitive dissonance. They must create bizarre (and often false) rationalizations to fit their prior categories.

@vaxryy Step 1: build something useful Step 2: share and get users Step 3: you become the defacto standard Step 4: get smart people that like writing standards turn defacto into real standards. Standards follow, they don't lead.

how to fix linux standards: step 1: make a standards body and dont treat a gnome-centric code dump as one step 2: invite people that actually want to make progress like valve, kde, and hyprland step 3: profit honestly I feel like valve has enough weight to seriously force linux people to conform esp with the amount of steam decks and steam gamers overall, they just don't feel like it

No joke, if Wayland wasn't consistently screwed over by upstream nonsense, Phoenix would not need to exist. Phoenix is an interesting project born from frustrations with a slow, voting-based development model. video by @BrodieOnLinux youtube.com/watch?v=NKPMDd…

@Abderra07086378 @TheGalox_ Don't care, as long as they mass produce it instead of gatekeep like western companies do to drive prices higher.

@TheGalox_ Then some idiots come along glazing China's so-called "innovations," when it's all basically stolen tech - CXMT with RAM, BOE with Samsung's OLED. Disgusting,

600 process steps leaked to China Former Samsung engineer who allegedly leaked DRAM manufacturing to ChangXin Memory Technologies allegedly took notes of over 600 complex manufacturing steps over 5 years. Samsung invested $1.1 Billion in the 10nm tech that was allegedly leaked. ChangXin advanced from 17nm to 10nm manufacturing in just a year.

@BowtiedNostrich @NXT4EU It is better than US in which Trump can "truth" out a legal/financial threat to Visa and Mastercard and make them ban vendors overnight.

@NXT4EU American companies are doing their censoring because they are dominant and there are not EU equivalents. Don't believe for one moment that the EU wouldn't pressure European companies to do the same!

@Texusscion @LogVells @schizocritic @ShitpostRock And it is a dying unpopular game like other two you listed. I love milsims and semi-realistic shooters like Insurgency, arma, tarkov etc. however they are all niche. Even when they are popular 99% of people who know about it never play it because it sucks for most (tarkov)

@LukasHozda @notch Minecraft is an important game, but Notch is not a great engineer. Some important and beloved games were written in a comically bad way, Minecraft is one of them. And it requires massive support from modding community to run well. (Sodium etc.)

@Grummz @theo Minecraft Java is the worst running voxel game in the market. It still requires modders to fully rebuild the renderer and server logic for it to be at least somewhat performant. Java minecraft is a joke and it is being held together by the incredible work of the community

You're being retarded about game dev. Getting a voxel engine running on hardware of the time was extremely challenging. Game programming is real-time, with heavy constraints, and what engine devs do is small miracles. Tech bros like to measure success by "exits" and it's hard to beat Notch's 2 Billion dollar exit.

Russia is at it again, using dangerous statements to undermine all achievements of our shared diplomatic efforts with President Trump's team. We keep working together to bring peace closer. This alleged "residence strike" story is a complete fabrication intended to justify additional attacks against Ukraine, including Kyiv, as well as Russia’s own refusal to take necessary steps to end the war. Typical Russian lies. Furthermore, the Russians have already targeted Kyiv in the past, including the Cabinet of Ministers building. Ukraine does not take steps that can undermine diplomacy. To the contrary, Russia always takes such steps. This is one of many differences between us. It is critical that the world doesn’t stay silent now. We cannot allow Russia to undermine the work on achieving a lasting peace.
