@LinusTech is there an official bit holder available to either buy or print at home for the ltt screwdriver shorty bits? If no, is there one coming? #lttstore

@sysadafterdark We use PRTG at work internally and for customer installs. Their new pricing model has made it too expensive though. We are going to migrate over to Zabbix and see how we get on. Such a shame as PRTG is very user friendly for our support teams.

So, what are we all using for monitoring these days? I have a second meeting with Grafana Enterprise on Friday and our PRTG quote came back a bit too rich for our blood. It has to use SSO and if it’s cloud based, needs to be SOC2 compliant. Bonus points if it’s not 14k.

@robertgraham @SwiftOnSecurity You might have miss read the origional tweet. A device needing to ‘report back’ to the manufacturer doesnt need to be routable on the public internet. It certainly doesnt need an SNAT. Any manufacturer that requires an inbound connection to a device should have S2SVPN.

This is a well-known problem. Sometimes it's product warrantee information, sending back status messages to the manufacturer so they can tell if the product is failing. You don't want an X-Ray machine drifting out-of-spec, do you? In the past, dialup served this purpose, and you'd find medical machines via wardialing. Other times, they need to simply communicate to laptop attached via WiFi. Well, since all those devices use routable IP addresses, the medical device uses a routable IP address. All of this can be solved with segmentation of the network and VPNs, but since nobody does it, hospitals don't know how. In other words, you could sweep in an fix a hospital, but they aren't going to let you. They are too conservative. What if what you do breaks something, then a patient dies because the network failed? Hospitals want to do what every other hospital does. They want machines to operate like all the other machines they have. They don't like your new fangled ideas about trying something risky and different.

Network engineers: I get how you _can_ do it, but how do you _accidentally_ expose a "this might kill somebody" medical device to be routable on the public Internet? This is some intelligent design stuff I don't think the universe materializes this as how IPv4 works.

@GergelyOrosz Long time user of Sonos, have one in most rooms of the house. Software used to be great (S1 app) S2 has always been crap but then they ‘redesigned it’ and it was useless. However, been using my system for the last two days and its night and day different. Ive changed nothing.

What is happening at Sonos is hard to believe. The company released a new app that is a big regression in reliability, usability and functionality vs the old one. Sales are falling thanks to the new app. There is no quick fix. They want to re-release the old app... but cannot

Mid-contract price rises are a tactic that the big six broadband providers have been using for years, leaving customers confused and shortchanged. At Cuckoo we’ve never raised prices mid-contract. That's £0.00 in "pounds and pence" 😁
Your Money@YourMoneyUK

Telecoms update: @TalkTalk will update customers on cost changes to contracts in "pounds and pence" from 12 August. This will be a necessity for firms to do at the point of sale across the industry from January 2025 yourmoney.com/household-bill…

Can someone @Sonos tell me why its more reliable, faster and a better user experience to control my speakers vis the @Spotify app than natively through the Sonos app. The new app is a hot mess!

@SkySportsF1 my Sky Q recording of FP2 cut off long before the session. I’ve tuned in live to F1 channel which says a re-run of FP2 is on, but it’s just showing old features. When can I watch the FP2 re-run in full?

@HackingLZ @TomLawrenceTech This has always been one of my bugbears about ‘prosumer’ kit. They give features odd names and make you configure it in backwards ways. I’ll defo be watching this tonight.

@SkySportsF1 Im not a huge fan of Lance. But this kid looks like he’s on drugs in this interview. His system must be all over the shop after a race in that heat. Where are the safety measures to make sure the driver can physically and mentally cope with that kind of punishment.

@deanmoulder @sarah_go_green @OctopusEnergy Hopefully your getting a decent charger installed. The nicer ones will have a CT clamp on the main tails so it can monitor the whole house load. Then you can set a power limit on the charger so you never have a situation where the power exceeds 60A.

Do you have a looped power supply? This is a very interesting video. If you are thinking about buying an EV it's worth checking to see if you are on a loop supply if you intend to home charge. A loop supply mags your sharing the same incoming cable from the DNO with neighbour.
Martyn Dews@Yorkie71

@B_McBeardface @petchelli This @efixx247 video explains. When we had our EV charger installed we found out we have a looped supply. Fortunately (for us), it's our neighbour who is linked to us so if they need an EV or HP, they'll need to do this. youtu.be/uhSO74B5nIA?si…
