How it started: Arambai Tenggol goons shot at Kuki-Zo civilians

#SENAPATI: The Mao Students’ Union (MSU) has condemned the circulation of what it termed “unverified and provocative materials” targeting the leadership of the Senapati District Students’ Association (SDSA), especially its president Saloni Toni. The MSU further condemned what it described as the “targeting and character assassination” of SDSA leaders through false social media circulation, and urged people not to spread misinformation and baseless allegations. #MaoTribe More: ukhrultimes.com/mao-students-u…

Social Media Post Allegedly Mocking Slain Kuki Pastors Triggers Outrage, Calls for Action 15 May 2026: — A Facebook post by “Andy Mm’s Videos” has sparked widespread condemnation after it was widely shared with allegations that it mocks the bodies of three Kuki pastors killed on 13 May. The post includes a caption in Meitei script: “Fjna noktharehe Kukiland ywdorena .....” and an image of three men laughing with text overlay “Kukiland fngena nokthare.” An accompanying caption accuses a “Meitei individual” of “shamelessly mocking and showing deep disrespect toward the deceased bodies” of Rev. Vumthang Sitlhou, Pastor Paogoulen, and Pastor Kaigoulun. The three Thadou Baptist Association pastors were killed in an ambush on 13 May while returning from a religious meeting in Kangpokpi District. The post has drawn anger from community members who called it “the utter defilement of grief itself” amid ongoing mourning and a hostage crisis involving 14 Kuki civilians. Condemnation from Kuki Community: We condemn in the strongest terms the mockery of the lifeless bodies of Rev. Vumthang Sitlhou, Pastor Paogoulen, and Pastor Kaigoulun. To ridicule the dead is to abandon basic humanity. Even in this hour of deep mourning and unbearable pain, their deaths are being turned into spectacle. This is not just hatred. This is the utter defilement of grief itself. There is no shame, no limit to the cruelty when laughter is aimed at murdered pastors. Mocking the dead solves nothing. It only deepens wounds and fuels more hate. The three pastors were unarmed men of faith. Their families deserve dignity, not derision. Shame on anyone who ridicules the slain. We demand that platforms remove content celebrating death and that authorities act against those inciting communal hate. Let the dead rest. Let justice speak. #𝐂𝐇𝐈𝐊𝐈𝐌_𝐓𝐄_𝐀𝐖𝐆𝐈𝐍 @chinkukimizogin #RevVumthangSitlhou #KukiPastors #RespectTheDead #StopHateSpeech #Manipur #ManipurViolence #JusticeForPastors #CondemnMockery #PrayForManipur

Thousands of Kuki-Zo people took to the streets in Manipur’s Churachandpur and Kangpokpi districts on Saturday, demanding the unconditional release of Kuki hostages and justice for three church leaders killed in an ambush by extremists on May 13. trib.al/bZgFLRR

It's not a time for vengeance or to meet our sentimental wishes by pitting against each other; it's time to pray and appeal for the safe release of innocent civilians who are still in captivity. And, I strongly demand for a fair and just investigation on Kotlen-Kotzim & Dolang incident, and punish the perpetrators befittingly. @rashtrapatibhvn @HMOIndia @INCIndia @adgpi @official_dgar @NIA_India @the_hindu @power_corridors

KSO Sadar Hills Endorses Extended Shutdown, Orders Closure of Schools, Offices, Businesses in Kangpokpi Over 14 Kuki Hostages Sadar Hills, 15 May 2026: — The Kuki Students’ Organisation, Sadar Hills, has fully endorsed Kuki Inpi Manipur’s press statement on the “continued illegal detention” of 14 Kuki civilians and the extension of the 48-hour TOTAL SHUTDOWN. In its press communique, KSO directed a total shutdown of all school institutions, government institutions, and private sector businesses across Kangpokpi District for the extended 48-hour period, effective from midnight 15 May. KSO volunteers will be deployed to ensure “strict and peaceful enforcement,” with all public and private establishments and transport services instructed to comply “without exception.” The organisation warned that non-compliance “will invite consequences” and said it will not be held responsible for incidents arising from defiance. Calling the abduction of innocent civilians “barbaric acts and a direct assault on human dignity and the rule of law,” KSO joined KIM in demanding the immediate, safe, and unconditional release of all remaining hostages. It urged the Government and security agencies to act decisively, stating further inaction would be “a failure of constitutional responsibility.” #𝐂𝐇𝐈𝐊𝐈𝐌_𝐓𝐄_𝐀𝐖𝐆𝐈𝐍 @chinkukimizogin #KSO #KukiStudentsOrganisation #SadarHills #TotalShutdown #Kangpokpi #HostageCrisis #KukiHostages #Manipur #ManipurViolence #ReleaseHostages #KukiInpi #PrayForManipur #NortheastIndia
