✈️ My brother Chris Collins boarded American Eagle Flight 5342 on January 29, 2025, full of life and with big plans ahead. Only 42 years old he never made it home. 67 people lost their lives that night in a mid-air collision over the Potomac that the NTSB says was preventable. #Flight5342 #SaferSkiesForAll #ChrisCollins ✈️ The NTSB’s final report (released Jan 2026) is clear: The probable cause was systemic FAA failures — placing a helicopter route too close to the Runway 33 approach path at DCA, ignoring years of warnings (some from 2008), and over-relying on “see-and-avoid” in a busy, low-light environment. ✈️ Key fact: ADS-B In technology (which shows nearby aircraft locations in the cockpit) would have given the jet pilots ~59 seconds of warning — and the helicopter crew ~48 seconds — instead of the ~19 seconds they had. That’s enough time to avoid disaster. But it wasn’t mandated for helicopters near busy airports. ✈️ This was a failure of oversight. The @FAANews didn’t regularly review helicopter routes, share data effectively, or act on known risks. The Army helicopter crew also struggled with visual separation in the dark. 67 families pay the price for these gaps. ✈️ Congress had a chance to fix this. The ROTOR Act (bipartisan, passed Senate unanimously) would have mandated ADS-B In/Out for nearly all aircraft, closing loopholes for military helicopters and adding collision-avoidance layers. Families, including mine, watched from the gallery as it failed in the House by one vote last week — after the Pentagon withdrew support. ✈️ The vote was 264-133 — close, but not enough under the fast-track rules. 264 members stood with us; others backed away due to defense concerns. We’re grateful to supporters like @RepGabeAmo, @RepSuhas @RepTroyNehls @RepDonBeyer, and leaders who spoke out — but we need more. ✈️ My brother Chris a loving husband, son, brother, and friend — deserved better. Every passenger on that flight did. The NTSB has made 50+ recommendations. We can’t wait for the next tragedy. Safer skies save lives, it’s that simple. ✈️ What you can do right now: • Contact your reps & senators: Tell them to revive & pass the ROTOR Act + implement full NTSB recommendations (find yours at house.gov or senate.gov). • Follow & support @famofflight5342 — the families are united in this fight. • Retweet if you believe no family should lose a loved one to preventable aviation failures. #saferskiesforall #FixDCA #AA5342 #ROTORact #AviationSafety

Pilots need technology – ADS-B In – that allows them to see other aircraft to prevent accidents like what happened over the Potomac. NTSB recommends it. Ask your members of Congress to close this loophole & mandate ADS-B In for all commercial aircraft! bit.ly/3Q6D6tI

Not only the @famofflight5342 but also we need this right for the pilots. These are the people we should be listening too. The ones that have the responsibility to get our families and friends to their destinations safely.
Capt. Jason Ambrosi@ALPAPresident

The tragedy of 67 lives lost at DCA on January 29, 2025, and recent mid-air close calls make it clear that now is the time for Congress to enact the strongest possible pro-safety legislation to protect our nation's airspace. We owe it to these families to get this right.

I would love for @RepSamGraves or someone on his team to explain to me how, under the ALERT Act, a CRJ like the one my wife and son died on gets equipped with ACAS-Xa by 2031. It doesn’t. This bill was designed to fail.
T&I Committee Republicans@TransportGOP

"At its core, this legislation is about making our aviation system safer in a practical, straightforward and meaningful way." Watch Chairman @RepSamGraves speak on the House Floor in support of the ALERT Act.

The Senate was unanimous. The House passed the ALERT Act. Now comes the hard part – reconciling one bill that must improve safety.

I am suspending my campaign for Governor. To my family, staff, friends, and supporters, I am deeply sorry for mistakes in judgment I’ve made in my past. I will fight the serious, false allegations that have been made — but that’s my fight, not a campaign’s.

@AlTheBoss03 Can’t argue with Mays. Wasn’t Babe Ruth a Right fielder and give me Ted Williams in left. If we are going with guys I’ve seen live I’m putting Vlad in Right, Griffey in CF and Rickey Henderson in Left

If you could build a dream outfield of ANY 3 players in MLB history, who are you rolling with? 🔥 Mays in center is a lock for me… but I’m still arguing left and right 😅 Drop your trio .

To make sure the tickets are valid. If you have a proven track record with them and meet a certain $$$ number in sales per year you get paid on delivery. It’s in the sellers terms and conditions about getting paid after event happens. As far as I know Ticketmaster is the only one that pays on delivery

Hey @StubHub Why do I have to wait 7 months to get paid for electronic tickets that have been transferred to the buyer at the time of purchase through your platform??? How come you don’t disclose this when tickets are posted for sale??

My biggest fear with the ALERT Act as currently written is nothing substantial will happen for years and years. Amendments could have changed that. The only shot of that will be at conference now. This was one of @RepSamGraves last pieces of legislation before retirement and to me it’s a huge letdown
Craig Caplan@CraigCaplan

TUESDAY: House will consider its aviation safety ALERT Act legislation under suspension of the rules, with only 40 minutes for debate, no amendments allowed & a 2/3rds majority vote needed for passage. @cspan
