Founders: take my advice... do not talk to the press, go direct and do long-form podcasts. Wired and the NYT are as biased as Fox News and MSNOW these days This is a function of their need to pander to one side to survive, be it through $ 3-a-month subs or rage-baiting ad-based stories. Attacking tech gets views (see Karen Swisher)... and views get advertisers (paradoxically, tech advertisers support the folks trashing tech! let that sink in!) Founders: If you talk to the NYT or WIRED, they will trash and misrepresent you 95% of the time in order to get more subscribers and page views It is what it is...
Theo Baker@tab_delete

.@Jason says this but Wired added 200k new paid subscriptions last year and the NYT is healthier than ever. “Don’t engage with the media” is an inherently silly take. Journalism is an essential public interest. Founders evading scrutiny is how fraud pops up again and again…

@mmjukic The problem with that strategy is that an F-35 was confirmed shot down. There are reports of two F-35s and an F-16 shot down, along with several other aircraft. If that’s reproducible, the US may not have air supremacy. See Bloomberg & NPR below. bloomberg.com/news/articles/…

Our pentagon correspondent @TBowmanNPR reports pilot is in stable condition with shrapnel wounds. F-35 made a “hard landing” and won’t be returning to service anytime soon.

I heard an incredible analogy from a VC friend that I can’t stop thinking about. “The moat in software was the cost of building software. And Claude Code just mass produced a bridge.” It’s wild when you think about the impact of this. The SaaS boom produced a few dozen billionaires and a bunch of zero sum winners. But the AI SaaS era will mass produce millionaires. There will be fewer ServiceTitans hitting $5B valuations, and instead there will be 50,000 companies doing $500K-$5M each, run by 1-3 people with deep expertise and huge margins. To be clear, I believe that the total value of software goes up, and the number of companies created goes up exponentially. But the number of people who capture the value also goes up 100x. I don’t believe in the “SaaS is dying” headline, I think it’s missing the point. It’s simply that the power of SaaS is changing hands.

Oh my god! 😂 There's no crime gene, but there is a "propensity to shoot and stab someone gene". It's the 2-repeat allele of the MAOA gene. African-Americans are 50 times more likely to carry this gene. Ahahahaaaaaaaaaahaha "Analyses revealed that African-American males who carry the 2-repeat allele are significantly more likely than all other genotypes to engage in shooting and stabbing behaviors and to report having multiple shooting and stabbing victims."

@johannesmkx Correlation != causation. Black violence per capita is higher than white violence per capita. This “study” is just affirming that fact. Unless it shows that other races with this gene stab/shoot at a higher rate than their peers, it’s meaningless.

Kalshi co-founder Tarek Mansour on the growing demand for better sources of information: "There wasn't a real pain 10 or 15 years ago in the way there is pain in the last few years." "I think the country is more polarized. I would say the world is more polarized." "Social media has really bifurcated social feeds." "The incentive structure for most things that we read these days is clickbait." "There's a meaningful and accelerating rise of distrust in traditional sources of information." "And so you need a new one." "The incentive structure for prediction markets is truth." "It is more volume. It is more liquidity, which translates to a better and more accurate forecast." @mansourtarek_ and @luanalopeslara on Cheeky Pint with @collision and @matthuang
John Collison@collision

Prediction markets are one of the most hotly-discussed new technologies of the past few years. @mansourtarek_ and @luanalopeslara, founders of @kalshi, joined @matthuang and me in the Cheeky Pint pub. We discussed their landmark lawsuit against the CFTC, how market making works on Kalshi, and where prediction markets go from here.
