Why the West is cosying up to Eritrea despite its human rights abuses martinplaut.com/2026/04/29/why…

No African is a foreigner in Africa. We share history. We share struggle. Stand together. #AfricaUnity #BlueRevolution #TransnationalRepression #RegimeChangeInEritrea

The totalitarian regime of #Eritrea continues to extend its repression far beyond its borders, targeting members of the Eritrean diaspora who are courageously advocating for justice, accountability, and basic human rights. Peaceful demonstrators—individuals exercising their fundamental freedoms of speech and assembly—are now being subjected to harassment, intimidation, and coordinated legal attacks simply for raising their voices. In a calculated effort to silence dissent, the regime has initiated lawsuits against 13 named individuals and an additional 150 unnamed activists. This strategy is not about justice—it is about exhaustion. By weaponizing legal systems abroad, the regime seeks to financially drain its critics, forcing them into prolonged legal battles until their resources are depleted, their assets are stripped, and their resolve is tested. This is a clear and alarming example of #TransnationalRepression, where totalitarian power crosses borders to crush opposition wherever it exists. This campaign of fear is designed to send a chilling message to Eritreans everywhere: that no matter where you live, speaking out comes at a cost. But the growing movement for justice refuses to be silenced. The courage of these activists reflects a broader and unwavering struggle against oppression and for the dignity, freedom, and future of the Eritrean people. The international community must not turn a blind eye. We call on global leaders and policymakers—including Joe Biden, Donald Trump, Antony Blinken, Brad Sherman, Jeff Merkley, and Dick Durbin—to recognize and confront these abuses. Silence only enables further injustice and emboldens repression. The Eritrean people deserve freedom, not fear. They deserve justice, not persecution. And no regime should be allowed to terrorize its citizens—at home or abroad—without consequences. #Seattle13 #BlueRevolution #TransnationalRepression #NoMorePFDJPropaganda #NoMorePFDJTerror @POTUS @realDonaldTrump @SecBlinken @BradSherman @SenJeffMerkley @US_SrAdvisorAF @SecRubio @USTreasury @SenatorDurbin @TiborPNagyJr @mrubin1971 @UN_SPExperts @washingtonpost
