Real ID drivers license should be sufficient for all of this because in order to get one, you must verify where you were born. I had to take my passport to get a real ID… So why can’t I vote with one? I am concerned about the thousands of women who have changed their names as a result of marriage and may potentially be discriminated against at the polls because of this among many others

Im actually starting to feel sorry for all americans at this point. Where i live in Norway, when you do vote, you need to provide id with a picture of yourself and with all necessary credentials on it. If ur a Norwegian citizen ur allowed to vote. If ur illegal and dont have that, there’s no need for that person to be able to vote in either state or government elections. Why is it so hard for the US to just fucking do like every other country. Why are mail ballots still a thing too. Quote me if if u feel im wrong, but seriously this should not have been accepted from the get go. Makes me sad to see that people really can argue on such simple things as «Should illegals be allowed to vote» NO THEY SHOULD NOT. Same with proof of citizenship. OF COURSE.

Republicans are lying to the American people when they say the SAVE Act is a voter ID law—it’s a proof-of-citizenship requirement that would make voting harder, if not impossible, for a lot of people. Passports are expensive, documents don’t always match, and the process can be a mess (been there). We should be making voting easier, not adding more hurdles. Democrats can own this by proposing their own bill that accepts a range of IDs, and includes automatic voter registration and Election Day as a national holiday for starters.

The SAVE Act is Jim Crow 2.0. It would disenfranchise tens of millions of people.  If Trump is saying he won’t sign any bills until the SAVE Act is passed, then so be it: there will be total gridlock in the Senate.  Senate Democrats will not help pass the SAVE Act under any circumstances.
