The South China Sea Studies Symposium, happening immediately before the Dialogue, invites paper proposals from senior and emerging scholars working on any facet of the South China Sea. Selected paper presenters will receive full funding support, including round-trip economy airfare to Manila, hotel accommodation, per diem, and registration for the Manila Dialogue. The Symposium aims to promote rigorous academic exchange while helping bridge the gap between theory and practice, and between academia and policymaking. As of this patch we rolled out an update so AFKs on your team refund full LP to the non afks. We are working further on our remediation strategy when disruptive behavior occurs and accounting for edge cases (like people afk wintrading, bullying others into afking, etc.) More to share soon.

What an inspiring sight to see— faith, community, and sovereignty side by side in the West Philippine Sea.

[Ranked Updates] 1. Rolling out an improvement to Matchmaking in EUW Within the next 24 hours, we plan to roll out an improvement to Matchmaking that we need to pilot in a large region. We are targeting EUW, late afternoon PST (in about 5-6 hours). The update intends to better balance autofills vs autofills & secondaries vs secondaries, etc. Will let folks know if we get delayed for any reason later today. We want games to be more fair & competitive and not feel like they were decided because there was a large off-role imbalance. As with any large Matchmaking change, we need your help to immediately diagnose and triage any issues, I will be putting up a thread to comment on any odd game results as they start to come in. This will impact all ranks, but will have a significantly larger effect in Apex ranks (autofills happen very rarely in regular play) If it goes well, we will start the process of rolling out to more regions. 2. Resolving Master+ LP Gains We're actively looking into a mitigation to resolve the bad LP gains in Challenger, nothing to share back yet, but mainly weighing our options. This change would get everyone back closer to +-20LP in wins/losses, rather than +10/-30LP that a few people are experiencing currently (about 30% of Challengers) It was the result of a hard to find 3rd order consequence bug, which we've resolved. 3. Reports of <10 LP Gains This should only be impacting Master+ players Looked into the reports of <10 LP gains, eg. +9LP gains (which shouldn't be possible) and the player did end up getting +10LP for the game. After looking at the frame by frame behavior in the client, there is a number that ticks up to improve satisfaction, but currently it ticks a bit too slowly, so a player can transition out of the screen before it has fully rendered the final result. (you can see this in the video I've linked) We are looking to both resolve this issue and the core issue causing the negative gains in the first place 4. Demotions Last year we made some changes to how Tier demotions worked (eg. Silver 4 -> Bronze 1). It is possible to demote to 50LP, 25LP if your MMR is low enough relative to your Rank. We fixed some edge cases that were preventing that from being true and so if you have a surprisingly large LP demotion, this is why

Positive win rate doesn't mean positive LP gains. That's a misconception. Your LP (+18/-22) means your hidden MMR is slightly below your displayed rank. At 52% WR you need closer to 55% just to break even with that delta. You're only about 6 net wins away from stabilizing though. Once your MMR catches up, gains normalize toward +20/-20. That said, Riot Phroxzon himself actually flagged prolonged +18/-22 in Diamond+ as abnormal and something he'd want reported:

@drewlevin Queued up again, and same guy was able to immediately queue up and do the same thing again. Apparently he was not able to move in time? or something as we were able to remake the second game. attached screenshots from OP.GG as the client won't show match history

The Manila Dialogue on the South China Sea is quickly becoming the most important annual gathering in the region to discuss the state of the South China Sea and West Philippine Sea. Somehow the timing always finds me stateside, so I'm really glad to have been able to catch most of the panels by live stream. Open dialogue, truth and mutual respect are always the best way to present and begin to resolve differences between neighbors. The panels and discussions are also a terrific educational opportunity for young (and old) people with an interest in security, foreign policy and international relations to learn more about the history of the region as well as the disputes and on-going efforts to resolve them that have evolved over time between neighboring states who share and call the South China Sea part of their homes. Thanks for making the Dialogue accessible to those of us who couldn't be there in person @JeffreyOrdaniel, @wps_ph and for the great coverage, @SITREPph!

Ytringer om at koronaviruset kan ha stammet derfra, har likevel ikke bare blitt sensurert for å være både rasistiske (!) og konspiratoriske (!). Nå benyttes Charlie Kirks fullstendig legitime overbevisninger om «Kina-viruset» og «Lab Leak»-teorien som eksempel på ‘drøye’ meninger Charlie Kirk skal ha spredd – dagen etter drapet på den unge tobarnsfaren som på forbilledlig vis møtte meningsmotstandere til debatt med mottoet «prove me wrong». Ja, please. La oss bruke tiden nå på å diskutere og ta avstand fra meningene hans! Not. Det resonnerer nok neppe med de unge, som faktisk har fulgt Charlie Kirk over lang tid. De har nemlig sett fyren argumentere for seg. Og de har latt seg overbevise. Norske mediers fremstillinger av mannen ser bare fullstendig latterlige ut. VG kunne dermed ikke greid å gjøre rasisme og konspirasjonsteorier mer sexy. Om det er rasisme og konspirasjonsteorier vi frykter, så blir dette – for dem – bare hedersbetegnelser. Da voldelige, hatske folk skjøt etter Shabana Rehman for å ha vist rumpa si på en filmlansering i 2005, møtte pressen opp på døren hennes, og spurte: Hvorfor må du være så kontroversiell? Hun svarte: Kan du ikke spørre de som skyter? Hvorfor må DE være så kontroversielle? Spørsmålet hennes, som hun sendte i retur, er like godt da som nå. Demokratiet og ytringsfriheten, som institusjoner, gir langt blaffen i om Charlie Kirk benektet klimakrisen, var overbevist om noe i abortspørsmålet eller syntes kvoteringspolitikken var gått for langt.
