🚨🎙️ Next on @SITREPph : Former Supreme Court Justice Antonio Carpio breaks down why the Kalayaan Island Group has always been Philippine territory - grounded in historical occupation, the Treaties of Paris and Washington, and reinforced by RA 9522, the Maritime Zones Act, and the Archipelagic Sea Lanes law. He also explains how the West Philippine Sea’s metes and bounds were deposited with the United Nations. We address disinformation, including claims amplified by Sen. Marcoleta and others, and how facts and law dismantle false narratives. Justice Carpio is clear: if the debate continues, it comes down to two core points. Clear facts. Legal record. No spin. “However, the likelihood of any joint development is highly uncertain. The first thing to note is that a Bloomberg article quoting the interview did not make clear whether Marcos was referring to a specific project, or to joint oil and gas exploration in general. The article’s lede referenced “a joint oil and gas project in a disputed area of the South China Sea,” and it then referenced the Philippine firm PXP Energy Corporation, which holds a service contract for Reed Bank in the South China Sea. Located within the Philippines’ 200-nautical-mile exclusive economic zone (EEZ), this is believed to hold significant reserves of natural gas that could help offset the impending depletion of the country’s Malampaya gas field.”

On Tuesday, Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said that he was open to restarting talks with China on joint oil and gas development in contested parts of the South China Sea -- but don't expect it to happen anytime soon. buff.ly/LHK4qm7

Intimidation will never outweigh the rule of law. In the West Philippine Sea, the truth is clear. UNCLOS stands as the foundation, and the Philippines’ sovereignty cannot be erased by coercion, threats, or unlawful claims. As long as Filipinos continue to stand firm and defend what is rightfully ours, the fight for our rights, dignity, and future lives on. The West Philippine Sea is not just about territory, it is about honor, justice, and the courage of a nation that refuses to be silenced. #WestPhilippineSea #AtinAngWPS #UpholdUNCLOS #LawNotIntimidation #DefendTheWestPhilippineSea #SovereigntyMatters #StandWithThePhilippines #ProtectOurWaters #MaritimeRights #RuleOfLaw #PhilippineSovereignty

Claims that the Philippines will be targeted by Iran due to the presence of Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement (EDCA) sites are "false narratives," a ranking military official said on Wednesday. Philippine Navy spokesperson for the West Philippine Sea and Inspector General, Rear Adm. Roy Vincent Trinidad said these reports do not give a "clear picture of the situation." pna.gov.ph/articles/12718…

History making 🚢 For the first time in history, a @Philippine_Navy ship has sailed into 📍 Sydney Harbour. As part of the multinational, Australian-led Exercise Kakadu, BRP Diego Silang entered Sydney Heads alongside 31 ships from partner nations, marking a significant milestone in Philippine-Australian defence cooperation. Australia and the Philippines have continued to elevate their cooperation through the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, since the announcement in 2023, but this marked the first time their ship sailed further south than Cairns. 🇦🇺 🇵🇭 Read more ➡️ spr.ly/6017B6jZYT #YourADF #StrongerTogether @TeamAFP

@jaytaryela Did you radio challenge their unlawful radio lawfare? China is asserting its rights on our EEZ by declaring its authority over the radio. The Philippines must counter this immediately, otherwise, China will claim that they asserted authority and no one objected.

PCG AND BFAR DEPLOY VESSELS TO PROTECT FILIPINO FISHERMEN FROM CHINESE HARASSMENT IN BAJO DE MASINLOC In response to continued harassment by Chinese Coast Guard vessels against more than 20 Filipino fishing boats last weekend, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) immediately deployed two PCG vessels and five fishery patrol vessels to Bajo de Masinloc. The joint PCG-BFAR deployment ensured the safety and security of the Filipino fishermen while delivering vital support, including fuel subsidies, food packs, and ice to extend their fishing operations and help offset rising fuel costs. PCG Commandant Admiral Ronnie Gil Gavan also directed the deployment of the PCG Caravan for a Maritime Domain Awareness (MDA) flight over the area. The flight documented six China Coast Guard (CCG) vessels, 20 China Maritime Militia (CMM) vessels, and one People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLA Navy) warship in the vicinity. This operation marks a significant first: the PCG has documented the China Coast Guard vessel announcing via live radio broadcast its intention to conduct a clearing operation at the following coordinates: - Point A: 15°05'N, 118°10'E - Point B: 15°05'N, 118°25'E - Point C: 14°14'N, 118°25'E - Point D: 14°14'N, 118°10'E The Philippine Coast Guard remains steadfast in its full support for President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s commitment to defend Philippine sovereignty, sovereign rights, and maritime jurisdiction in the West Philippine Sea. In line with the President’s vision, the PCG will continue to uphold international law and protect the rights, safety, and livelihoods of Filipino fishermen from external threats and harassment.

DFA: PH-CHINA COAST GUARD TALKS LIMITED, PROPERLY CLEARED UPDATE: The Department of Foreign Affairs clarifies that discussions to update a 2016 coast guard agreement with China are limited to reviving a joint committee that will serve as a formal communication channel between the Philippine and China coast guards. The talks are in line with President Bongbong Marcos’ directive to keep communication channels open with Beijing. The DFA says the proposed changes exclude sensitive activities such as joint patrols and are being handled through formal diplomatic processes, with key security and foreign policy officials fully informed. @newswatchplusph

🧌 TROLL FARM ALERT | West Philippine Sea This morning, SeaLight identified seven accounts with zero followers that posted coordinated anti-🇵🇭#Philippines, pro-🇨🇳#China propaganda on the #SouthChinaSea — all within the same 60-minute window. The accounts: @ClareM5340, @WrightYung31880, @KHicks70973, @AshenafiOt71310, @BRatleff61798, @KMonette66186, @rudy_dougl44289 Every account fits the troll farm profile: ❌ 0 followers, only 1–4 following ❌ Anglicized Western names with random number suffixes ❌ Stock or AI-generated profile photos of young women ❌ Coordinated amplification of pro-Beijing articles ❌ AI-generated propaganda images portraying the Philippines as a 🇺🇸US puppet destroying "regional peace" Their messaging follows the well-documented Chinese influence operations playbook targeting Filipino public opinion: frame Manila's lawful assertions in the West Philippine Sea as dangerous "provocations," portray the US alliance as a threat to Philippine sovereignty, and cast Beijing as the champion of peace and stability in the region. This is textbook Coordinated Inauthentic Behavior (CIB) — the same tactic documented repeatedly in Chinese state-linked campaigns targeting Philippine social media. The poor tradecraft (zero organic followers, obvious sock puppet names, synchronized posting) suggests either a low-budget operation or one that simply doesn't need to be sophisticated to be effective at flooding timelines.

UNCLOS is the standard. Mischief Reef is within 200 nautical miles of Palawan and inside the Philippine EEZ. That law is clear: this area is covered by the Philippines’ sovereign rights over natural resources and economic activities. No fake map, artificial island, or act of coercion can erase what UNCLOS already protects Mischief Reef is not proof of China’s power, it is proof of the sheer arrogance and absurdity of a claim that defies law, distance, and reality. #BRPSierraMadre #WestPhilippineSea #MaritimeSecurity #EvidenceSpeaks #SovereigntyDefended #FactsFirst #MaritimeTruth #WestPhilippineSeaAtinIto

US led defense manufacturing partnership, known as the Partnership for Indo-Pacific Industrial Resilience (PIPIR), agreed to launch a new missile motor production program with Japan, push forward a drone cooperation effort across Asia, and explore building a new ammunition production line in the Philippines, the Pentagon said on Friday. the US set it up in May 2024 to reduce supply chain risks and help allies produce and maintain military equipment closer to where it might be needed. this initiative aims to strengthen regional supply chain security by reducing logistical risks and allowing allies to produce military equipment closer to potential flashpoints. the US House Committee on Appropriations ordered its Department of Defense, State Department, and the International Development Finance Corp. to assess the feasibility of establishing such facility in Subic Bay. Marcos clarified that the ammunition production initiative is part of the country’s Self-Reliant Defense Posture (SRDP), with US support aimed at helping the Philippines build up its own capacity and to create a forward-staged ammunition manufacturing capability for US and allied forces, addressing global shortages and enhancing the Philippines' own defense capacity. the facility is proposed to be built in the Subic Bay Freeport Zone, a strategic former US naval base. initial plans include facilities to load, assemble, and package 30mm cannon rounds, widely used by aircraft and ground vehicles. there is also potential to prioritize high-demand munitions like 155mm howitzer shells and 81mm mortar ammunition. the project is expected to operate under a commercial foreign direct investment model, initially creating 200 to 300 highly skilled jobs with potential for further expansion. the proposed joint project, is part of a broader US-Philippines defense cooperation agenda under the Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement (EDCA), amid rising tensions in the South China Sea and the wider Indo-Pacific region. President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. confirmed the project aligns with the Philippines' SRDP program, which seeks to make the country more independent in its defense needs. proponents argue the facility serves as a deterrent to aggression and reduces the "tyranny of distance" by streamlining the military supply chain in the Indo-Pacific. the Pentagon announcement and a published joint statement, came following the virtual meeting of the second annual plenary on Wednesday, March 28,2026, where the group welcomed two new members - Thailand and the United Kingdom - bringing its total membership to 16 countries spanning both the Indo-Pacific and Europe. beyond ammunition, the broader PIPIR group is also pushing for missile motor production in Japan and drone cooperation across Asia. the group said it had agreed to set up a new program to produce solid rocket motors (SRM) - the propulsion systems used in many guided weapons - with Japan taking the lead. the move is seen as a way to boost production capacity outside the US for a key weapons component. on drones, members agreed on a series of steps to develop common standards and shared supply chains for small military drones across the region, including work on batteries and small motors that power them. the group also agreed to explore building drones together across a range of military uses. the plenary also highlighted progress on other strategic projects, including the establishment of forward repair hubs for F-15 and F-16 aircraft engines in Japan, a CH-47 Chinook helicopter engine repair hub in South Korea, and the expansion of a regional sustainment hub in Australia to support P-8 radar-equipped aircraft. Marcos said the project had been in the works for months and would proceed even without US assistance. on the issue of potentially hosting more US missile systems, Marcos noted that any military modernization effort is a response to the evolving security environment. “even without US help, we would still pursue it. we would certainly like any kind of military spending — we would wish that it wasn’t necessary, but it is..” - Marcos ctto:
