The new Teesworks Ltd accounts confirm that @privateeyenews’ revelations of the many private paydays at Rishi Sunak’s flagship freeport - notably this piece last April that was dismissed by Lord Houchen as lies - are all true. There may be more in next week’s Eye! 1/2

Users will be able to see a  detailed breakdown of the route itself to see the type of road they’ll be cycling on. There'll be an Immersive View to preview routes in advance & a feedback option so you can suggest improvements. @tfl @googlemaps 🚲🚲 blog.google/products/maps/…

"Pavement parking is basically me ending up in the middle of the road." 💬 Vehicles parked on pavements can make everyday journeys challenging and even dangerous for many people. It's time for change. We're calling for a ban on #PavementParking across the UK 👇

@BobFromAccounts Just this. Twice on my short journey this morning overtaken at speed within 0.5m (within the same lane) approaching the clearly visible Q for the red light. I was doing probably 15-20mph in a 20 zone, so not slow. Filtered past same cars within 10s at Q. Endangerment for 0 gain

Drivers would do well to consider that overtaking cyclists in London is pointless and futile. Wherever you are travelling, the cyclist will always get there faster.

@CarlSherman @dhplumstead @BobFromAccounts Can’t even tell you how many drivers I see on phones; innumerable. Plus red light jumping and also just through ignoring solid red & proceeding). As for driving on pavement see plenty of that as well where I live (plus obstructionist parking). Guessing my experience don’t count?

@dhplumstead @BobFromAccounts You are of course talking about cars who go through as the lights change to red rather than when the lights are on red and the rest of the traffic is stationary, that’s a big difference that you ignore

@LawrenceLocke6 @BobFromAccounts @Yashman67 What drivers see as ‘disrespect’ often maybe a rider seeking to keep themselves safe, based on their vulnerability and experience on bikes. Personally I ride to work in London, but wouldn’t ride on country roads as I find it terrifying (narrow lanes & higher speeds).

@LawrenceLocke6 @BobFromAccounts @Yashman67 Problem with being vulnerable road user on country road & pulling in to allow space is that it reduces your space to avoid road hazards (eg drains/pot holes) that cars would not regard a hazard, and leeway to safely swerve should the driver overtake too close (which happens).

In my 31 years writing for @PrivateEyeNews, I have come across fearless truth seekers who turned out to be right, and fearless truth seekers who turned out to be wrong. The ones who are right are invariably more modest and self-effacing. The ones who are wrong never admit it.

@CyclingSurrey @HighwaysSurrey Great work chasing a reply. Putting the apparent issues with reliability aside, hacking to have an engineer out every time someone tailgates seems mad!

Well Redhill is definitely going against the trend. Seemingly doing the opposite & turning any available seating areas & public space into parking to make life easier for motorists.

@reigatebanstead @stuart_holmes1 @ReigateBeat @RBBCLeader How often do the parking enforcement team take any action? The town centre is like this every time I go into town,& see these pictures posted so often it’s clear it’s like this all of the time. So there should be dozens or hundreds of tickets issued every month: is that the case?

@antonysimm @KnoxDuncan @_JonathanEssex @SurreyCouncil Anyway, given the Redhill roundabout not sure how you’d reduce the flow coming through earlswood as a shortcut without restricting the flow of traffic through the bridge at philanthropic. Surely without that the traffic would just take a different route through earlswood?

@antonysimm @KnoxDuncan @_JonathanEssex @SurreyCouncil Yeah I guess it depends where the through traffic is going; if south on Brighton then probably will keep going through earlswood on St John’s road. If they’re heading to Reigate then likely to see a huge increase coming north on Earlsbrook road to go under the bridge…

The current buses through this road are under consultation to be cut by @SurreyCouncil from 5 to 3 a day. Would need a plan that includes a sustainable transport alternative. Is there a way to make changes to reduce rat-running without impacting those who live in Earlswood?
Duncan Knox@KnoxDuncan

@EarlswoodEco @CyclingSurrey @_JonathanEssex How about closing the road at this point (except for buses). It would be occasionally inconvenient for local drivers who would have to go the long way around, but that would have to weighed against the benefits of less traffic maps.app.goo.gl/WRxcAmwa965JPk…

@Mike_Wortley @KnoxDuncan @_JonathanEssex @SurreyCouncil I would make Hooley Lane a one way East bound from Earlsbrook Road to St Johns. It would make Earlswood less of an avoidance of Redhill town centre... But in reality is the extra traffic on Earlswood a side effect of the clogged up 'Station Roundabout' in Redhill.
