Deeply saddened by the demise of Haji Khazir Mohammad Sheikh Sahib, father of jailed MP Er Rashid Sahib. Heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family in this moment of immense grief. May Almighty Allah forgive his shortcomings, elevate his ranks in Jannat-ul-Firdous, and grant patience and strength to the family. Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un.

1. 🚨 2015: Liquor was “revenue.” - NC & PDP defended liquor for revenue then.
2026: Liquor is “morality.” - Now they (NC & PDP) weaponise morality for politics and sell outrage for relevance. Let’s not forget Same parties. Same bottles. Different script. September 23, 2015: Karwan‑i‑Islami filed PIL No. 19/2015 in the J&K High Court seeking a complete ban on sale and consumption of alcohol in the Muslim‑majority state. The petition argued the practice violated Article 47 (Directive Principles on public health) and Section 24 of the J&K Constitution. The court issued notice to the state government and gave one week for a response. 2. ❌ PDP’s 2015–16 position (when allied with BJP): - PDP, via its Finance Minister in the Legislative Council, opposed alcohol ban, calling alcohol a matter of individual choice in a free society. He compared it to vegetarians not being able to ban non‑veg, and warned that prohibition would hurt tourism and revenue. 3. While in power, the PDP‑BJP government explicitly rejected blanket prohibition and defended liquor licences as an important excise revenue source — even seeking to “improve revenue generation” from the sector. If PDP now calls for a ban, remember Drabu’s words from back then. 4. ❌ NC’s stance (then opposition, now in power): - NC stayed largely silent on the 2015 PIL; it didn’t strongly back Karwan‑i‑Islami’s demand and remained a muted spectator in and outside aseembly. 5. Historical context: Even NC founder Sheikh Abdullah sb and subsequent governments avoided full prohibition, citing tourism effects. Farooq Abdullah sb has also warned a ban would cause revenue loss. 6. 🎭 The hypocrisy across parties: - PDP (2015–2018): Opposed a ban while in government, prioritising “freedom of choice” and tourism revenue. - NC: Never pushed hard for prohibition either in power or opposition. Oct 2015: The High Court disposed of the PIL, holding that courts cannot enforce prohibition by mandamus and that prohibition is a policy decision for the government, not the judiciary. Both — PDP and NC — have defended excise revenue from alcohol (figures around ~₹2,150 crore were cited in debates). So, before pointing fingers, remember who profited from the status quo. They both NC & PDP raked in the revenue; now they cloak greed as conscience.

An absolute honour to meet @MayorofLondon Mr. Sadiq Khan and learn from his perspective on leadership, resilience and the responsibility of running a world-class city. Watching my father, @imrankehwah sb, serve as Deputy Mayor of Srinagar with quiet dedication, long before most even recognised the office, has taught me that real leadership is not noise but vision sustained under pressure. That conversation has reignited a belief within me: Srinagar too can rise. Srinagar too can shine. Because London is not merely a city, it is a statement. A global powerhouse built on institutions, continuity, discipline and relentless execution. Respect to Hon’ble Mayor (@SadiqKhan) for stewarding one of the world’s greatest capitals with clarity, resilience and political vision. From Srinagar to London: the aspiration remains the same: build cities that make their people proud.

If an ordinary Kashmiri had posted exactly what Iltija Mufti ji did, a mere X account suspension would have been a luxury. For far milder posts, they face brutal midnight raids, phones snatched, days of brutal interrogation, arbitrary detention & the ruthless slapping of UAPA or PSA. Families are left to rot for months outside police stations, courts, and jails — while the rest of India shrugs and scrolls on. Countless nameless Kashmiris have endured this nightmare for years in total silence: no headlines, no TV outrage, no editorials, no hashtags. Their accounts weren’t just blocked — their entire lives were crushed and discarded. The difference is not the post. The difference is the surname. As granddaughter of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed sb & daughter of Mehbooba Mufti ji — Iltija ji enjoys the full protection of Delhi’s powerful elite ecosystem. This entitlement card from her uncles and aunties in delhi guarantees her wall-to-wall coverage, sympathetic op-eds in national newspapers like The Hindu etc, prime-time panels, and instant national sympathy. For the ordinary Kashmiri, the same system offers only invisible punishment, zero scrutiny, and zero empathy with no media attention. This is naked two-tier justice — One rule for the powerful & another for the powerless commoner. Equal application of law is not optional — it is the bare minimum of any civilised society. Anything less is a pure hypocrisy. @republic @TimesAlgebraIND @the_hindu @timesofindia @TimesNow @htTweets @IndianExpress @thetribunechd @aajtak @GreaterKashmir @RisingKashmir @kashmircrownews @KashmirLife @KNSKashmir @DDNewslive @ddsrinagarNYKS @DDKashirChannel @PTI_News @ANI @ABPNews @PIB_India @PIBHomeAffairs @thewire_in @TheQuint @ThePrintIndia @timesofindia @TimesAlgebraIND @thetribunechd @etribune @DailyExcelsior1 @CrossTownNews @earlytimesjk @kashmircrownews @DailyTaskeen @kashmiruzma @morningkashmirX @kashmirpride9

The Mask is COMPLETELY OFF, @OmarAbdullah sb. You shamelessly called reports of new liquor shops a “lie” again and again. But the ugly truth is standing tall at Khawaja Bagh, Baramulla — right in the heart of a Muslim residential area. As CM and Finance Minister, you personally facilitated this liquor shop. This isn’t governance. This is a direct, deliberate assault on our faith, culture and social fabric. Turning a peaceful Kashmiri neighbourhood into a den of vice, while you preach morality from Srinagar is the ultimate betrayal wrapped in deception. You gaslight us with fake slogans of “choice” and “progress”, but in reality you’re auctioning our identity, our values, and our children’s future to the liquor mafia. Preaching ethics in one breath and legalising poison in the next — this level of disgusting hypocrisy has no parallel. The people are wide awake. Your double-speak is fully exposed. Shut down the liquor outlets RIGHT NOW. No excuses. No delays. No more lies. A leader’s legacy should not be built on lies, liquor and selling out his own people. اپنے ہی گراتے ہیں نشیمن پہ بجلیاں غیروں نے آکے پھربھی ہمیں تھام لیا ہے #KashmirBetrayed #OmarAbdullahExposed #KhawajaBagh

Tourism is the backbone of Jammu & Kashmir’s economy, and the reopening of Tosamaidan for tourists can create immense opportunities for local youth, businesses, and the overall development of the region. After the unfortunate Pahalgam attack, several tourist destinations were temporarily closed as a precautionary measure. With most tourist spots now reopened, it is my humble request to Hon’ble LG @manojsinha_ to also reopen Tosamaidan with proper facilities, security arrangements, and infrastructure so that people can once again witness the breathtaking beauty of this paradise.
