On Friday, April 17 at approximately 3:30 p.m. these two fourteen year old's were spotted riding this gasoline powered miniature jeep on Talbotville Gore Road in the Township of Southwold. They travelled from a residence on Talbot Line a few hundred meters west of Optimist Drive all the way to the Talbotville Esso on Sunset Road. This is a major safety concern and parents should be aware of what their children are doing. Motorized vehicles are not allowed on sidewalks but from a safety perspective, these two were not always able to ride on the sidewalk in their journey. Don't allow your children to lose their motorized toy or risk their life.^jcb

Once again, regardless of whether you think that ChatGPT understands anything or not, I think this argument is confused. To say that it can't possibly understand anything because it was only trained to "predict the next word" is just as idiotic as saying that humans can't understand anything because they were "trained" to survive and spread their genes.
This line of argument seems to boil down to the idea that, unless something works roughly in the same way as the human brain, it can't really be intelligent, but just as the same software can run on very different types of hardware there is no reason to think that human-like intelligence couldn't be implemented in very different ways.

Two months ago the YouTuber Benn Jordan made what has become one of the most popular videos about data centers ever, and maybe the most popular piece of media on data centers this year: Datacenters Behaving Like Accoustic Weapons. The claim is that they produce harmful infrasound.
This video (and the one before it) is a moment-by-moment disaster. I found this to be far and away the most jaw-dropping experience of writing I've had. To my knowledge I'm the first one to publicly push back against all the problems with it.
Even if you're not interested in data centers or infrasounds, I think this is just an incredible example of how pseudoscience can become highbrow misinformation. All it takes is a chill-seeming guy, great production, and not actually checking literally any of the studies he's quickly flashing on the screen.
