In remembrance of the 1-year anniversary of the June 18, 2022 #ToleMassacre of ethnic #Amharas by #OLA forces we ask our followers, readers and supporters to strongly advocate for ethnic Amharas who are being cleansed off their country Ethiopia. The #ToleMassacre took place in #WestWollega Zone #Gimbi Woreda #Tole Kebele(precinct), on June 18, 2022. The attackers were reported to be OLA/OLF forces; however, there were prevalent reports from survivors that state operated militias were also involved in the horrific attacks. Communication services and electricity were discontinued in the area in what seems to be an extremely coordinated attack. What was very peculiar about this attack was that some mainstream media reported about the attack early on. Unfortunately, they pegged the death toll at 200-300, by reporting once early during the attack and not revisiting or presenting a follow up update. They also completely discounted the reports of local independent media who had more on the ground access. Find AP’s article claiming 200 dead here: apnews.com/article/ethiop… (Note: AP is a newswire service that is used the most to source news in the West. Almost all MSM media in the west except those that have their own correspondents use news from AP). By the end of the 48th hour, the death toll was confirmed 1551. The death toll of 1551 was not even the final number. The attacks had multiple forms, people were burned alive within their homes, some were cut to pieces even in the mosques they were sheltering. Most of the men in the villages were out for farm work, therefore the attackers were able to mercilessly kill women, children, and senior citizens in the area. From the people they lost and from the bodies they were not able to bury as well as those who perished in the woods, the survivors estimated a death toll of 3,000 people. Award winning journalists like Meaza Mohammed (@mohammed_meaza ) have attempted to follow up with the survivors and have provided a continuous report of their status, most of them are living in IDP camps where they are not getting the necessary help to survive. Some have died due to lack of access to food and water after surviving a genocide. Find GPE’s report on the incident here: [WARNING REPORT CONTAINS GRAPHIC IMAGES] drive.google.com/file/d/1MFp1Pi… The #GPE_AtrocityAlert released at the time here: x.com/gpethiopia/sta… How are these atrocities being handled by the Government and the International community? Hundreds of such atrocities took place over the past five years; however, the ruling party was willing to negotiate with the perpetrators of these crimes without any independent body investigating the extent of the crime, on both the State and non-State actor’s side. Without any framework for justice or recognition of these horrific crimes. Some European countries happily came forward to cover up these crimes by agreeing to facilitate talks between the perpetrators of these crimes and the ruling party that commandeers the genocidal system in the country. VoA’s article on “Peace Talks Between Ethiopian Government, OLA Continue in Tanzania” voanews.com/a/peace-talks-… GPE demands independent investigation into all ethnic based atrocities, genocide, ethnic cleansing, displacement, war crimes, mass gender based violence and all kinds of crimes against humanity that took place against targeted communities throughout the tenure of the genocidal ethnic apartheid system in Ethiopia. #AmharaGenocide is enabled because of the silence of millions who chose to look away. We can end this now by speaking up, and by not aiding the regime in Ethiopia to carryout its genocidal plans. #AmharaGenocide #ToleMassacre #GimbiMassacre

"Mass killings are becoming shockingly common in #Ethiopia. The lack of credible efforts by the Ethiopian government to ensure justice for families of those killed and prevent such atrocities adds insult to injury,” amnesty.org/en/latest/news…
