@Rodomonte @perkinscr97 There would need to be authorizing legislation first. It is Congress's authority. But it absolutely could happen very quickly. And I hope it does.

It’s time to resurrect Privateers after 200 years. Hack back. Create a crypto reserve at no cost to the taxpayer. Attract crypto founders back onshore because of the security umbrella provided by our Privateers. Security must be addressed for crypto to achieve its full potential. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Chinese underground banking systems are the financial backbone enabling fraud, fentanyl trafficking, and sanctions evasion at global scale. As @ARedbord from @trmlabs testified this week in a @HomelandGOP hearing, these networks processed over $100 Billion in 2025 alone, powering scams that drain American families of their life savings. The same China-linked financial networks laundering scam proceeds are also enabling fentanyl trafficking, connecting digital fraud directly to the drug crisis at our border. This is a national security threat; Chinese underground banking systems moving money for cartels, criminals, and hostile actors alike.

@sydseiler @Mister_G_2 The Chinese are masters at jerking Americans around. We wasted countless opportunities to actually disrupt North Korea because of that. To wit: DOJ could have seized BILLIONS in '16/17. But we didn't want to hurt China's feelings. Disgraceful.

We must explain periods where at least we had the appearance of cooperation. 2013-2014 was one such period, as was the cooperation in the Security Council in 2017. The latter was a "moment in time" -- DPRK missile launches, nuke tests, and aggressive US messaging -- that is not easy to replicate.

Beijing always put just enough pressure on NK to mollify Washington and to help avoid NK triggering a war. Wishful thinking by most members of an entire generation of diplomats and politicians dismissed those (like me) who warned of this in favor of hoping Beijing would help.
Joel Atkinson@Joel_P_Atkinson

Here's a crazy thought. Maybe Pyongyang was never isolated, Beijing was always "aggressively unhelpful" and that's why NK's nukes ambitions turned out so well

@randOver_ This hack is a very different team and pattern from what we saw in Bybit. This is not a TraderTraitor theft.

3/.. @NickCarlsen1 documented the same pattern during the Bybit hack and called it "flood the zone" the goal is to overwhelm compliance teams and blockchain analysts with high-frequency noise so the real funds move while everyone's chasing ghosts.

1/ obfuscation or noise as a service? North Korea just robbed Drift Protocol for $285M on April Fools Day. Classic. But buried in @divergsec's breakdown is something more interesting than the hack itself.
Diverg@DivergSec

1/10 We've been investigating the @DriftProtocol exploit ($285M) since April 1. We can confirm along with TRM Labs and Elliptic that North Korea's Lazarus Group (TraderTraitor). Same unit behind Bybit ($1.5B), Ronin ($625M). Was involved. Here's what our independent on-chain forensics uncovered that hasn't been published.

I'm an architect in your district and do all my work in Clark County. The permitting process is getting worse every year. WA state's new energy code requiring energy credits makes construction more complicated, increases cost and delays schedules. It can add up to $5,000+ to the construction of a single family home. State stormwater requirements alone add $6,000+ in cost just for the design and permits for a single family home. The actual construction of storm facilities can be over $10,000. Habitat permits don't make sense. On my own vacant lot, I have to cut down a few trees to place the home on the lot. This might cost me up to $50,000 in habitat mitigation while someone a mile away can clear cut 50 acres along a creek with no obstructions. These requirements disproportionately impact small residential projects and homeowners, while larger developments can absorb or navigate them more easily. This, in turn, hurts middle and lower income households, including first time home buyers and small builders.

I’ve broken bones. I’ve got in fights. I’ve fucking given birth. But a few days ago I got a cut (stab?) underneath my thumbnail while gardening. I don’t actually know. And today holy shit this pain is fucking unreal. I cant even function rn. If I touch it I might vomit. To make it worse, all I can think abt is the time I was talking to a boy who had a similar thing. I thought he was being a baby. He didn’t hack shit for nearly 2 days bc his poor wittle finger. But now….now I see. Now….I might try egg. 🥹

In France, we believe in science. That is why, on May 5, I issued a clear and open call to the world: for science, choose France. I am very proud to see that this call has resonated so strongly. Around forty leading researchers have chosen France. Through “France 2030”, we have invested more than €30 million to advance health, climate action, artificial intelligence, and fundamental sciences. Science has found its home.

The Constitution grants Congress a forgotten power: to issue letters of marque and reprisal. A tool once used to unleash privateers against Britain’s navy, and it could again bridge private enterprise and national defense in our new age of hybrid warfare. Whether its on the ocean, or in space the logic is consistent and constitutional. deputize Americans to strike at enemies where our bogged down administrative state cannot. Reviving this authority demands structure. Congress should create a U.S. Court of Marque and Reprisal to adjudicate operations, verify captures, and reward success—just as prize courts once did in the age of sail. A Letters of Marque Authorization & Regulation Act could bring this constitutional tool into the 21st century—uniting innovation and patriotism to defend American interests on every frontier. Read @AidenBuzzetti's latest, for @firstbreakfast below.

Today on First Breakfast, a special post in conjunction with our friends at @DefenseAnalyses. @AidenBuzzetti discusses the legal infrastructure that is needed to revive privateering—which could be useful in domains as diverse as the high seas, cyberspace, and outer space. 🏴‍☠️ "[T]o expand letters of marque to [new domains] would require a functional prize system. Many cybersecurity threat-hunting operations, counter-piracy efforts, and satellite servicing missions already operate on commercial models. A modernized prize system could enhance these incentive structures, directing private-sector capabilities toward national security priorities without requiring direct government funding or control." 🔗 below.

Bybit hackers have laundered 89,500 ETH (worth about $224 million) in the past 2.5 days, accounting for 18% of the total amount of ETH stolen (499,000), according to @EmberCN. Hhackers expect to be able to exchange the remaining 410,000 ETH into other assets (such as BTC, DAI, etc.) within half a month. Currently, hackers mainly use THORChain for cross-chain asset exchange. x.com/EmberCN/status…
