Not sure why it needs to be said, but @IRideMDT figure out the issue with the Metrobus GTFS data. No live feed on @transitapp nor @Citymapper, just the County’s GoApp.

Today, @RonDeSantis announced a HUGE partnership between @TPUSA and Florida, with the goal of establishing Club America chapters on high schools all over the state. If anyone attempts to stop our students from forming chapters, Florida will immediately intervene. Thank you, Governor! Now let’s put Club America chapters on thousands of Florida high schools 🇺🇸🐊

@doug_hanks That said, now enjoying unfettered northbound express service despite it being reserved for morning peak only in this direction. Not complaining lol.

@doug_hanks My 2 cents: skip the peak-only signal preemption and just run bidirectional all-day BRT service. Much simpler, logistically.

My takeaway on Day One of the rapid-transit bus system: If the buses were hitting green lights consistently, passengers I spoke to would have been a lot happier. County says red-light situation was a hiccup miamiherald.com/news/local/com…

@doug_hanks Working theory from my 2nd ride through today: signal glitches may be caused by interference from local buses moving ahead of express buses. Glitch at intersections seemed to go away after passing the local bus. Unsure why.

New route numbering is also confusing, esp with digital schedules at EXP stops, which lack the “Metro Express” or “TransitWay Local” context. The Route 38 really could’ve remained the 38, given no route changes, not become the 602 TransitWay Local.

Flyer creates confusion about the new Metro Express service. Flyer should state separately, “38 is now the TransitWay Local.” Some are riding the EXP bus expecting local service and have to alight at EXP stations and walk to local stops. @GoMiamiDade @IRideMDT

@VanessaBritoMia @CaroCastilloCC @CommishEileen @MayorDaniella A train to Fla City would’ve cost $4B+ and the ridership forecasts would’ve been laughed at by the FTA when it’s time to apply for capital dollars. Unfortunately, any other alternative to BRT would’ve gone unfunded and unbuilt. Let’s give county 90 days to optimize, then opine.

To clear California High-Speed Rail for use on EXISTING train tracks between San Jose and San Francisco alone, the environmental review process produced a final report of 8,204 pages (456 hours of reading) and took almost 14 years to complete. We need reform.

@FixMetroMDT @doug_hanks @MayorDaniella Issue with the SMART Plan is that corridors are highly politicized, moving riders from all 13 commission districts to/from the urban core. But there’s little thought about access or ridership to justify corridors when applying for FTA capital improvement grants.

@FixMetroMDT @doug_hanks @MayorDaniella Rail isn’t a panacea. A healthy mix of complementary options are still needed, especially in low-density areas. Buses can serve the suburbs well—which studies also show—provided they take people to the right places and there’s enough first/last mile access.

Getting rapid-transit bus approved was a contentious vote for Gimenez when he was mayor in’18 and South Dade leaders — including @MayorDaniella who was a county commissioner then — said they wanted to hold out for a $1B+ Metrorail extension
Rep. Carlos A. Gimenez@RepCarlos

🚌 Today, alongside my dedicated District Team, I visited the South Dade TransitWay & Operations Center. The tour included a walkthrough of the signature Bus Rapid Transit station, a look inside the buses, and a ride along part of the corridor.

Miami-Dade @MayorDaniella delivering sternest remarks to a commissioner since taking office, slams Commish @RobJGonzalezFL for berating her admin re budget. Holds up a T-shirt he made bearing his name to refute his criticism of county marketing $. “You do need to show respect”

IT’S OFFICIAL. Miami-Dade County will not be increasing transit fares for FY25-26!!! Thank you @commisharod for introducing the motion to eliminate the transit fare increases, @RaquelRegalado for seconding the motion, and our @MiamiDadeCounty Commissioners for voting in favor of their hard-working constituents!
