@arrow_dark40989 It’s not necessarily swinging wildly but being aggressive vs cautious can work for a higher handicapper too
English

Many golfers believe that dialing back their swing speed is automatically going to produce a more controlled, technically sound swing.
However, in reviewing motion-capture and force-plate data from elite players like Wyndham Clark, we often see the opposite is true.
When we ask golfers to go after it, their data not only looks more athletic, they get a more dependable ball flight.
English

Probably not wrong. Use this equation and find out yourself.
Take your average 5-iron (not the one time you nuked one at the range) and multiply by 36.
Example: 160-yards x 36 = 5,760 yard tees.

@MattGajtka @BigDecksSucks @klmatter @LouStagner Exactly what will happen. When I heard about the roll back I said good bye to non bombers. It will harder for them to keep up.
English

@BigDecksSucks @klmatter @NicoPaezGolf @LouStagner My first thought on this matter is that someone like Davis Thompson is going to be phased out, which seems to be the exact opposite of what the USGA wants with this
English

This is a remarkable exchange between the USGA's John Spitzer and Dr. Sasho Mackenzie.
Spitzer is the USGA's head of equipment standards. Watching this, it's hard to come away thinking he understands what Sasho is saying.
Pair that with the recent news that Cameron Young is already playing a rolled-back ball in competition, and you can draw your own conclusions about the scientific rigor behind the USGA's approach to the rollback.
Video should start at 19:05. Watch through 23:36 for Sasho's priceless reaction.

@jamierkennedy Royal Lytham. Nothing like starting a major championship on a par 3
English

@MattGajtka @klmatter @LouStagner There are pros with more and literally they hit a 2 hybrid with 180s ball speed because the cone gets too wide
English

@NicoPaezGolf @klmatter @LouStagner Where Rory and Bryson are at right now is probably as far as a pro golfer can take it
English

@klmatter @LouStagner You are because it gets too wild to be playable. Diminishing returns
English

@StoPicks_ @StephNoh Like Blake Griffin. White mom and no athleticism?
English

@DraftExpress Ouch. He is too small to be a 4 and not enough skills to be a wing
English

@samflanagan77 Yeah parked myself in a few areas. One let me see drives, approaches, and a par 3 so a decent amount of action. Tough course they were on as well.

Went to the LPGA event. Few notes:
- The ladies hit a lot of fairways. Bomb & gouge isn’t their game. Shows how much dispersion and distance are related.
- They’re slow. All pros are but some of them are especially slow.
- If you like how golf was played back in the day, you’ll love going to an LPGA event. Fairway woods, long irons, and playing strategically are their thing. Follow a group and you’ll learn some game management skills.
- It is fun to watch golf at this extremely high level not be about overpowering the course. I love that too. But the women’s game is a pleasure to watch, especially in-person.

@timmmess @joshlukenichols Same. Send me the spreadsheet and pdf!
English

@joshlukenichols I have an excel spreadsheet and PDF that explain exactly why using the 4 fundamental kinematic equations. DM me if you’d like it. It’s essentially a reverse engineering of many popular green reading systems.

@thwacknicklaus @MizunoGolfNA Back in my amateur days and adjustable drivers this was how I got below 7° of loft. Long drive head

English

@sullivangolf I caddied in that too. But to be honest that’s the only way they can set up Bandon and make it equal. Bandon is much easier from the tips for professional men than it would be for women in the U.S. women’s amateur set up.
English

@NicoPaezGolf Thanks for commenting. I really didn’t want to come off as anti-mixed competition. It just looked really lopsided to me. I caddied for one of my players at the Women’s Am last year and they played it around 6400.
English

@canonclaycomb I played there a couple summers ago and it was terrible. The range was a joke. Course conditions were brutal.

@DougWahl1 Lytham is the most underrated open rota courses. Plus it’s so different starting a round with a par 3
