@Fit_For_Golf I saw someone say “you could train for years and not mange to hold that pace for 10k…” are you kidding? You could train for years and not be able to hold that pace for 400m, it’s unbelievably quick

You probably saw the marathon world record was broken. Just under 2 hours. Pace breakdown examples: 4:13 per mile 13.6mph 17 seconds per 100 meters For 2 hours continuously

I’m surprised a bit by just how high some private school fees are in Brisbane today Many many schools north of $30k + a year in fees or around that mark No tax deductions for these costs either, it’s all post tax money So for high earners, that’s $60k a year per kid of pre tax earnings 3 kids there’s $180k before you get out of bed, clothe or feed them Can keep people running on the hamster wheel for a long time You can also see how what sounds like a reasonably good salary disappears pretty fast

@bowtiedstocks It's not always post tax money, say you are a partner at an accounting firm. You can direct some of your pre tax income from the partnership to the private school. As the school is normally tax exempt they do not pay tax on the distribution from the partnership.

From USGA The firmness of a putting green is primarily dictated by a combination of soil moisture levels, organic matter accumulation, and sand management USGA As I said, soil composition. Which obviously includes some sand. And btw, Bermuda is generally bouncier than bent, due to leaf and root structure. .

@PKnight_77 @thwacknicklaus @montypro No, this is not correct. All greens, no matter what the type of grass, are sand based. Certainly, beneath the sand base there are sub soils which vary from area to area. Check with the USGA standards, and/or your local Greens Superintendent.

Hitting a butter knife 1-iron from 220 over water and making it stop on the green is the peak of golfing skill. These scenarios should be returned to the game. ASAP. Let’s sort out the players and the imposters. Let’s return to golf as it was! thepropergolfer.com

@SteveKBuchanan @thwacknicklaus It’s not at all the same. Every course will have different soil composition under the greens and given moisture will react differently ie firmness. The grass type is not the definitive variable to bounce and firmness of greens. Care to chime in here @montypro

@PKnight_77 @thwacknicklaus Whether Bermuda or Bent, the base is sand. It’s the same. They went to bent greens to improve speed. Some of today’s variety of Bermuda is different, but 1975, common Bermuda. Much slower in the stip.

I respect Butch even more now ....

🚨🇺🇸😳 #EMBARRASSING — Butch Harmon sounds off on American fans at The Ryder Cup, saying it prompted him to pull out from planned broadcast work. “I thought the Ryder Cup was disgusting. It was embarrassing being an American. I love the Ryder Cup, it’s my favourite one to broadcast and being from New York, I had planned to work with the Sky Sports team. But I decided to pull out for that main reason. I felt we would spend more time talking about what’s going on in the gallery with the fans being unruly than we would the golf and I just didn’t feel I wanted to be part of it. “I hated the way things were going at the Ryder Cup. I thought it was a terrible embarrassment for the United States, and let’s hope it never happens again.” “This is the beauty of Augusta. These are the best behaved patrons in all of golf. I love the Open Championship because all the gallery people understand golf and they understand how to cheer. But this place, it’s like a holy grail of golf in the US, and it’s difficult to get a ticket to come. It’s probably the hardest event to get a ticket to. The patrons there are very well behaved, because they’re the same people that come back year after year.” ➡️ Thoughts on the comments? (Via: @TelegraphSport)

@thwacknicklaus In 1975, the greens at Augusta were Bermuda. Much easier to stop. That same shot on Bent greens would have gone straight to the pond on 16.

@Jack_Polivka @ZubyMusic Well said. What I see is a lot of dependency and even some narcissism. People love talking about themselves and it’s cathartic to discuss problems. I think many confuse what feels good with what helps.

When I was younger, I never heard about anybody going to therapy unless they were a war veteran or victim of some horrific crime. And people were saner and better regulated back then. I'm not convinced modern therapy helps most people. The opposite is possible.

I respectfully disagree. Some guys are just not comfortable under the gun. They can have all the talent in the world but it takes a certain combination of personality and talent to play your best when it matters. Which can actually come in different forms ironically. No one formula.

@Neely1751 I don’t like to say it this way but I don’t know of a better explanation… Luck. It’s not that the guys who got there are just lucky, they’re all incredibly skilled and worked their asses off, but to play great at the right time is somewhat lucky.

Having the capacity to shoot in the low 60s anywhere you show up but to also not be anywhere near the tour is an incredible thing in pro golf… there are SO MANY dudes who could win who never sniff the PGA Tour

Reliability aside, this car just hits differently. The Range Rover SV is an experience Toyota can't replicate, and it knows it.
