@KunkleFredrick That’s not what I saw. I saw a dictator in pajamas trying to bully our country after we’ve sent hundreds of billions to help his country. Trump is the only person in that room who has been shot and the only POTUS who kept Putin from invading Ukraine, for four years after Crimea.

@conor64 I don’t think DOGE’s primary function is financial. Its purpose is to shrink the size, scope, and comfort level of the federal bureaucracy.

DOGE increasingly looks like a pr gambit that makes fiscally inconsequential cuts to prevent the public from realizing that Trump will massively increase the deficit, knowing the consequences won't hit America until a successor is forced to deal with the consequences

The GOP budget extends the 5 yr. tax holiday we’ve been enjoying, but because it doesn’t cut spending much, it increases the deficit by over $300 billion/yr. compared to letting tax cuts expire. Over 10 years, this budget will add $20 trillion to US debt.

So, I've got a few things to say about this. And it could take a while. First, the Navy is being directed to find 8% savings by these reports. This is lunacy. The Navy needs to grow, it needs more resources. I don't care if you think there is waste. Of course there is waste.

AI talent in government is disproportionately likely to be probationary staff (because they’re doing something new!).

@StevieJ64099245 @joshrogin I'm all for the US pulling out all support and "letting" Ukraine win the war. I strongly disagree with gifted US missiles landing within the Russian homeland. That's inviting more of our blood and treasure to be committed.

In his first meeting with European leaders, Hegseth unilaterally took NATO membership for Ukraine off the table and said Ukraine can’t get all its territory back - two major concessions to Russia for nothing in exchange. Not exactly Art of the Deal.
