#IndiaAtUN @IndiaUNNewYork organized a panel discussion to commemorate International #VesakDay. The theme was “Leveraging Buddhist Heritage for Strengthening Global Peace and Cooperation”. Vice Chancellor of @nalanda_univ, Prof. @Sachin_Chat delivered the keynote address. The event was held with the participation of the Permanent Missions of Bhutan, Cambodia, @JapanMissionUN, @LaosAtUN, @nymongolia, @NepalUNNY, @ROK_Mission, @SLUNNewYork, @VietNam_UN ➡️ Cd’A @PatelYojna recalled the deep civilizational bond among people from the Indian Ocean to the Indo-Pacific through shared traditions of Buddhist art and culture, architecture, flow of ideas and values. The collective effort to restore sacred sites, revive the transnational spiritual corridor and deepen the people to people contact is bound to strengthen regional cooperation. ➡️ Prof @Sachin_Chat highlighted that interdependence and collective welfare as central Buddhist tenets relevant to global governance and linked Buddhist philosophy to ethical development, sustainability, and global systems thinking. ➡️ The event saw active engagement from Member States. Speakers underscored Buddhist values of non-violence, mindfulness, moderation & dialogue, sharing personal experiences where Buddhism touched their lives, especially in an increasingly complex global landscape. She highlighted: ➡️ Any reform that does not result in expansion of the permanent category would be incomplete and unjust. ➡️ Reforms must not accentuate the existing imbalances. ➡️ A third category would push real reforms many decades into the future. ➡️ 🇮🇳 is committed to real reforms. @MEAIndia @IndianDiplomacy

The Permanent Mission of India organised a day-long retreat with interactive sessions on Peacekeeping and Peacebuilding in the context of political and financial challenges facing the @UN at Greentree Foundation. The participants, which included members of the Security Council, Peacebuilding Commision (PBC), major troop and police contributing countries (T/PCC) , senior UN leadership in peacekeeping and peacebuilding and the think tank community (Dag Hammarskjöld Foundation, IPI @ipinst, @CrisisGroup and @nyuCIC). #IndiaAtUN @IndiaUNNewYork along with @ANDORRA_UN @MexOnu @NepalUNNY and @SLUNNewYork celebrated the second #WorldMeditationDay in the @UN today. @Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, keynote speaker, led a guided meditation session at the event. Distinguished speakers, including the PRs, outlined the importance of the ancient practice of meditation and its contemporary relevance. PR @AmbHarishP highlighted that transforming oneself brings about transformation in the external world. Around 700 enthusiastic participants attended.

#IndiaAtUN The IBSA Fund Board of Directors met at @IndiaUNNewYork today. The Board reviewed progress in the implementation of various ongoing projects under the auspices of the Fund. Reaffirmed their faith in continuing trilateral cooperation as an effective means of South-South Cooperation to provide development assistance to countries of the Global South. 🇮🇳 handed over the Chairship of the Fund to 🇧🇷.
