Everyone thinks Shane Gillis is right wing, but if you listen to him talk about politics it's really obvious he's a lib.

Stalin had this effect on people as well, interestingly enough. Diplomats generally loved the guy, and found his warm demeanor with them hard to square with contemporary reports of a paranoid tyrant who had slaughtered the heroes of the Russian Revolution.

When women say they don't like a male hobby, you must translate this to, "I feel anxious if I see my boyfriend/husband spending time on a surrogate activity rather than a tangible achievement, because I feel our resources are insecure, and like he isn't prioritising my needs." If a woman feels safe with you, and knows you have things taken care of, she won't care about you spending the occasional hour a week on Rome Total War.

everyone is engaging with this as you'd expect, but I can't help taking it as a fun challenge to come up with a truly unproblematic author. maybe James Baldwin?

@redsteeze Looks like guy was a Christian who was offended by Trump's blasphemy. kenklippenstein.com/p/assassin-was…

As Jia Tolentino is in the news, I implore everyone to reread Lauren Oyler’s 2020 take down of her oeuvre, which is fantastic:

@charlescwcooke The difference between the Bulwark and the Dispatch I think is this: The Dispatch treats Trump as a bad president who should be opposed when appropriate. The Bulwark treats him as the Satan of a Catholic Baptism, where you're morally bound to reject all his works and promises.

Don't ask Pedro Pascal why his dad had to flee from Chile in such a rush

@homerjahsimpson endlessly vindicated

“Water, soil, and oxygen should not be infinitely accessible. They are assets that should be included in global economic balance sheets.” This is not satire. The World Economic Forum wants to monetise breathing.

I just think he's like... a bad guy? It doesn't surprise me that he's popular but he comes across as cruel, vindictive, himbo idiot who would have trouble carrying on a remotely complex conversation. So he's basically a perfect c2026 "political" "commentator."
