@Kevin_Maguire Except it doesn’t Kevin. Rejoining the EU would take up all the Gov and Civil Services time (as it did for Bojo’s Gov). Plus the UK is now outperforming the EU economically (except for Poland). We are streets ahead of Germany and Spain.

Zack Polanski is upset that the Chief of the Met Police used an open letter to criticise him, saying "it wasn't the appropriate forum". Much better just to mindlessly retweet someone else's half-baked thoughts on social media

@sd8974 @KN08HED @haveigotnews If it’s stops stabby people from stabbing randoms in our streets - absolutely yes! It’s easy to ensure the police don’t kick you in the head, don’t go round looking for people to stab to death.

@MatthewStadlen Perhaps a time for you to honestly self-reflect? Your incessant interactions and goading were becoming somewhat odd and tedious.

@SSEEDDEEQQ20 @FabrizioRomano Qualifying for CL will do just that. In terms of making statement about a transfer strategy beyond his contract, the owners will take a rather dim view of that.

@SSEEDDEEQQ20 @FabrizioRomano No, his major problem is that his own contract runs out at the end of May. Which is why he cannot comment on the summer transfer window.

@homeboy_ng @FabrizioRomano What Carrick is saying is he can’t be concerned about the summer transfers because he doesn’t have a contract. He cannot comment on things beyond his contract period because that would be presumptuous.

@JamesMelville 70s, The change between the early decade and 1980 was truly enormous. From a post war time to video games, computers, a more cosmopolitan diet, foreign travel. Yet still a time of politeness, manners, respect for elders, and traditions.

@DPJHodges The central point though Dan, is that No10 knew last September. The independent told senior officials in No10. Starmer cannot claim No10 ‘were not told about the vetting failure’ - they objective were told.

@v_j_freeman Why is no one yet asking the PM about the fact the Independent broke the story in September *and* was messaging officials inside No10 on that very article. The PM can’t just keep claiming ‘it’s the fault of the Foreign Office’ when No10 knew.

This line of thinking supposes Robbins was highly invested in protecting Keir Starmer. Why?

What does the Foreign Office gain from such an easily discoverable concealment? There is only downside in taking this enormous risk. First instinct of *any* professional of any standing on discovering a risk of this magnitude is to inform the chain of command to cover themselves.
Nick Robinson@bbcnickrobinson

There is a far simpler explanation for the appointment of Mandelson. The Foreign Office knew the Prime Minister wanted it to happen despite concerns raised directly with him about Epstein & business links with China and Russia so they delivered what the boss wanted.

@MissScouty_C @alan_tinsly @WillKingston @Woodthorpe17662 It wasn’t the ICJ advisory that was the game-changer in law. It was the ‘ruling’ of the Special Chamber of the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea. The Tories opened up negotiations but never progressed them sufficient to make any deal offer
