@BobFromAccounts You all seem to forget how many more people are killed and injured by drivers rather than cyclists.

This is the kind of nonsense that is debated or petitioned every year. Then, common sense prevails. It's unworkable and cars are the main problem
James Gandy@JG4NDY

@BobFromAccounts @MayorofLondon Mandate number plates for bikes and enforce helmet wearing, charge cyclists for running reds, zebra crossings, riding without due care and attention and no lights. Enforce cyclists having to pay insurance but not road tax as they can cause damage and injury too.

@leebeck1 @MikeyCycling Well, the reporting to the police would be done regardless. Subsequently posting on here is 'for a few clicks' but more to reinforce the consequences of being a dangerous driver.

@MikeyCycling Wow, read your statement again “If convicted, he will probably lose his green badge and won't be able to work as a cabbie if TfL revoke his green badge” So, he now loses everything, the repocusions for him and his family are enormous because you want a few were clicks on X.

This cabbie's handheld phone use is disappointing. Yes, I'll be reporting him. If convicted, he will probably lose his green badge and won't be able to work as a cabbie if TfL revoke his green badge.

@MikeyCycling @Suiattack Is that also the case in New Zealand Mikey. That seems to be where the clip is from. Not sure where the bot you are responding to is from.

* There is no road tax - it was abolished in the 1930s to stop entitled drivers from claiming that they own the public highway. You mean VED, a pollution tax. It's obvious why cyclists and pedestrians don't pay that tax. * As a driver you're a freeloader - the sum of motoring taxes in the UK is far less than the sum cost of motoring to society. All drivers are heavily subsidised by non-driving taxpayers. * You drive only via revocable licence; your driving is a privilege and not a right. Cyclists, pedestrians and horse riders/carriages all use the public highway by right and were there before cars were. Know your place.

Any other @virginmedia users struggling to log on to sky sports via pc? Sign in but it just then tells me to log in. Again. And repeat. Forum on virgin site suggests others are getting the same thing. Tried 3 browsers. No joy.

@sexandtheswiss I lasted about 15 hours. Went to A@E. Nurse took blood then came back into the cubicle with a carrier bag. I asked what it was for and she said 'your clothes, you're not going anywhere'. Gallstone and acute pancreatitus. Stayed in hospital for 3 weeks. Go get checked.

Always nice knowing a bike lane is coming up, not nice when a driver decides to do this… 😳 My partner’s footage on way to work. No indication, no awareness, utterly terrifying these people are driving on our roads. Partner was more polite than I’d have been…

@MikeyCycling At least a driver can be held accountable because of their license plate. What about the cyclist who break the law on a daily basis? Run red lights, break speed limits or using their phone. How do we hold them accountable? Time for bikes to be registered Level the playing field

All the people thinking that camera cyclists cause hatred. No, friend. You haven't cycled in the days before cameras. The hatred has always been there. Now at least cameras tame drivers to some degree. They don't fix everything, but they certainly don't make it worse. Unless you're the convicted driver. Then it's worse for you only.

@bickers1983 @laurencyclist I prefer to anticipate problems. Better than dealing with damage afterwards. Ive had a car damaged by somebody cutting a corner. It won’t take you long on youtube to find the consequences of that for a cyclist.

This topped off one of the worst commutes I’ve had in ages. (🔊 on) Waiting for traffic to clear to go right, lady behind me turning left couldn’t wait a few moments for it to be safe enough for me to turn right. Pedestrians we’re trying to stop her abusing me. What on earth?

@AndyatAuto Which specific right was this eroding? Its a speed limit. You have never had the right to drive as fast as you want.

Drove into London today (anticipating a train strike) to be met with 20mph speed limits through-out central London, policed with hundreds of speed cameras. Another erosion of car users rights which along with ULEZ is likely to be unpopular with voters. I guess the argument for is lower emissions and crash injuries, but I doubt there is credible research behind this. 20mph should be reserved for around schools & hospitals where it’s entirely valid. Emissions in the streets of London will almost certainly higher since one drives in a lower gear to control momentum avoiding the speed cameras. And at 20mph, I’m now swarmed by bicycles overtaking from all angles raising the risk of collision. I’d love to see the research that supports this but like so many thing’s these days, I doubt it’s supported by valid facts but rather political expedience.

Oh dear. They didn't scrap a bus lane because there wasn't one; and yes I like it, but it's not my favourite cycle lane — that's the one on Embankment. If there are two errors in headline...😬 Oh, and for the umpteenth time, don't blame cyclists for jams created by drivers.
