President Trump and Secretary Rubio remain committed to confronting Communist China’s many human rights abuses.
Spotlight on China@spotlightoncn

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio affirmed on May 5 that China’s human rights violations remain a key priority and will be addressed during the president’s upcoming visit to Beijing. President Donald Trump is scheduled to meet with Chinese leader Xi Jinping in Beijing on May 14 and 15, with Rubio expected to accompany him. During a White House news briefing, Rubio confirmed that addressing these abuses, particularly forced organ harvesting, continues to be a crucial administration focus. “We always raise those issues,” Rubio said, noting that while the setting matters, human rights remain prominent in U.S.-China conversations. As a senator in 2024, Rubio notably introduced legislation to deter the Chinese regime’s state-sanctioned killing of Falun Gong practitioners for their organs. That bill, reintroduced in March as the Falun Gong and Victims of Forced Organ Harvesting Protection Act, seeks to impose sanctions on those complicit in the abuse. Taiwan also remains a major sticking point between Washington and Beijing. Rubio stated that both sides understand their respective positions and want to avoid instability in the Taiwan Strait. “I’m sure Taiwan will be a topic of conversation,” he said, emphasizing that preventing destabilizing events in the Indo-Pacific benefits both nations. U.S. pressure is mounting ahead of the summit, with Rubio noting the administration is weighing its options if Beijing ignores U.S. sanctions on Iranian oil. Beijing recently invoked its anti-sanctions law, instructing Chinese companies to ignore U.S. penalties on five refiners processing Iranian crude. “If you ignore our sanctions, you’re going to face secondary sanctions,” Rubio warned, adding that U.S. actions are not merely symbolic. The State Department also confirmed plans to impose travel restrictions if Beijing continues to slow-walk the repatriation of Chinese nationals in the U.S. illegally. For years, China has resisted U.S. requests to take back tens of thousands of citizens who overstayed visas or entered the country unlawfully. Commenting on the Iranian Foreign Minister's May 5 visit to Beijing, Rubio expressed hope that China will pressure Iran to keep the Strait of Hormuz open and cease attacking shipping channels. He noted that as an export-driven economy, China depends heavily on open global sea lanes. “It is in China’s interest that Iran stopped closing the straits,” Rubio concluded. theepochtimes.com/us/united-stat…

America has enemies, and it’s time to start acting like it. We allowed our adversaries to infiltrate American campuses and universities for YEARS. That’s why @RepStefanik, @RepJoshG, and I inteoduced legislation to BAN federal funding to colleges that operate branch campuses in adversarial countries. It’s time to STOP giving them a free pass to indoctrinate students, steal research, and spy on us. We’re NOT for sale! foxnews.com/politics/unive…

.@SecWar is right: “We can’t be dependent on China on ANYTHING that’s critical to our supply chain.” We must do EVERYTHING in our power to secure our drug supply chain and onshore manufacturing.

Thank you, @SecRubio, for protecting American AI innovation from Communist Chinese theft.

.@TreyYingst : "The State Department last week warned of increased Chinese efforts to steal American intellectual property as it relates to artificial intelligence. At which point does this become a national security threat more than an economic threat?" SEC. @marcorubio: "It's always been both because deeply embedded in all of our national security is our economic security..." "Every country in the world, every foreign actor with the capability, is trying to steal our intellectual property because it benefits them, because we're the best at the world at it. So this is a real threat."

DISTURBING: Chinese nationals are actively infiltrating the U.S. military as spies. Just months ago, former U.S. Navy Sailor Jinchao Wei was convicted of espionage. He provided sensitive military intelligence, including technical manuals and ship data from the USS Essex, to Chinese operatives in exchange for $12,000. Separately, Yuance Chen and Liren “Ryan” Lai were arrested after arriving in the U.S. — Chen as a legal permanent resident in Oregon and Lai on a tourist visa in Houston. Both face charges for acting as unregistered agents of China’s Ministry of State Security (MSS), allegedly recruiting U.S. military personnel and conducting clandestine intelligence operations targeting Navy bases and service members.

Fox News’ Maria Bartiromo: “China did a cyberattack on the U.S. How significant is the undermining of America by China right now?” FBI Director Kash Patel: “The most persistent and active cyber threat we face in the world is from China… What China does is three things: they use the People’s Liberation Army (PLA), the Ministry of State Security (MSS), and their private sector to engage in a basically a triad of cyber offensive warfare and attacks.”

President Trump and @usedgov are uncovering exactly how much foreign adversaries are pumping into US colleges. ⚠️ Communist China has spent more than $6.8 billion alone.
Select Committee on China@ChinaSelect

New data confirms what we’ve long warned: America's foreign adversaries are exploiting U.S. universities. China alone has poured more than $6.8B into American campuses, often tied to efforts to access publicly research and influence academic institutions. The Trump Administration and @usedgov's push for full disclosure through their new online portal is a critical step to expose these risks and protect U.S. innovation from foreign exploitation. amac.us/newsline/natio…
