@Michael_L_Rauch @Tesla Congrats Michael! Hopefully that one is a keeper because history needs to remember that car at its peak and how special it was for its time. Perfect spec too!

@AlejandroEV66 When will they start to focus on that giant hole of the North Central states? It's still like 2015 up there. 😮‍💨

About a year ago, there were just 70 sites in the country with 400+ kW chargers. Today there are 400, and that number is growing at nearly one new site per day. We’re getting close to road trips using nothing but 400 kW chargers⚡⚡

@MaxPatten @RoamingNorway Idk, it kinda is though until something can beat it in a race to Vegas at a comparable price. I know that's a very narrow measurement and I'm not saying anyone should make a decision based on that alone but it does matter. The road trip case matters to ICE buyers.

@RoamingNorway Hot take: the Model Y is not the benchmark anymore, especially for the premium segment.

Spotted 👀 Won’t be a Model Y killer, it’s too expensive. Doesn’t mean it won’t be absolute everywhere anyway!

Don’t worry about oil 🛢️ prices we have a bigger problem - Hector is going to be running three Honda Civics with Spoon engines; and on top of that, he just went into Harry's and he ordered three T66 turbos, with NOS and a MoTeC exhaust…

@MikeCalcara Not enough people are looking at the next legendary beater, the 1st gen Model 3. Incredibly reliable, fast, cheap to run, super easy to work on, endless parts supply & extremely safe. $8k-$15k is plenty for any spec, RWD to Performance. Most at ≤100k miles still under warranty.

I work with a lot of parents buying cars for their teenage or college-age kids, and almost every conversation starts the same way. "I don't want to spoil them. I'm thinking something used, maybe $15,000." I get it. You learned to drive in a beat-up Civic with a tape deck and manual windows. It built character. But that strategy doesn't work in 2026. Ten years ago, $15,000 bought you a reliable 3-year-old Honda with 40,000 miles and full warranty coverage. Today, $15,000 gets you a 7-year-old car with 85,000 miles, no warranty, and a laundry list of deferred maintenance you won't know about until something breaks. So you're setting yourself up for repair bills that will easily exceed the cost of a newer car. You're worried they'll wreck it. You're worried they won't appreciate it. Fair concerns. But is it really worth the trade-off? If you can afford it, buy newer. The statistical likelihood your teenager gets in an accident is high. Do you want them in a car with airbags from 2012, or one with the latest safety tech? You want your teenager to learn responsibility? Make them pay for gas. Make them pay for insurance (or part of it). Make them maintain it. But don't compromise on safety because you're worried about spoiling them. The "old beater" built character when old beaters were $3,000 and still reliable. That's not the world we live in anymore.

@ProtoKyle6 We won’t know for sure until we get our hands on one but the current 32” diameter setup leaves little space.

Today was a core memory day that will live with me forever. Thank you @Rivian for creating an incredible vehicle, supporting an incredible community, and just being awesome. I had the opportunity to be part of a huge moment in this company's history and this is just the start.

@carsales_guy Or better yet, buy a used EV. Even a 4 year old good EV will feel like alien tech compared to whatever gas car you're driving now.

Driving this tomorrow! With the LEAF S postponed (or cancelled?) this is now the cheapest new EV on sale in the US. What do you want to know? I want to know why GM’s website doesn’t resize images correctly.

@ProtoKyle6 @ChadMoran @MaxPatten At least with xcare, it's very dependent on the number of miles the vehicle already has. We considered getting an extended warranty on our old model 3 for instance, but it's not eligible for coverage on the HV battery anymore for instance

At what price do used gen 1 R1Ts become a steal? I know out of warranty they are a lot to maintain, and there’s no Rivian CPO/extended warranty program past 60k miles. Also no upgrade path to newer compute.

@Lrawsignal @ChadMoran @MaxPatten Ok, I wonder how often those go. If be looking to live with a Gen1 R1T for quite a long time. What's the range for an extended warranty? I know Rivian has a pilot test for their own extended warranty, but that will only expand if the math is in their favor.

@RivianTrackr @MaxPatten Can you elaborate on that? Are we talking more than ADAS? I would be perfectly happy without ADAS if they can deliver the ai assistant to Gen1. I've been impressed with how much they have continued to bring to Gen1.

@MaxPatten I would stay away from Gen 1 R1 at this point since you won't be getting a lot of the fun coming in the future.
