The AHA board is populated by CEOs of the largest nonprofit hospital systems in the country. The FAH board is populated by executives of the largest for-profit chains. These are the people who benefit directly from the policies these organizations advocate. They're not representing hospitals generically. They're representing their own P&Ls. When the AHA lobbies against site-neutral payment, it's not protecting "community hospitals." It's protecting the facility fee income of the systems whose CEOs sit on its board. The conflict of interest isn't hidden. It's the organizational chart. It's a beautiful Tuesday, carry on.
