U.S. Air Force Major Michael Blea was awarded the Silver Star for extraordinary heroism during combat operations, likely in support of Operation Epic Fury, in a ceremony on March 3, 2026, at Ramstein Air Base, Germany. The Silver Star is the nation's third-highest military decoration for valor. A pilot for the 480th Fighter Squadron based at Spangdahlem Air Base, Germany, Maj. Blea received this award for intentionally flying his F-16CJ "Fighting Falcon" into enemy fire to shield his fellow service members.

In honor of National Medal of Honor Day, we recognize Captain Royce Williams: whose bravery will live on through history. He annihilated adversary aircraft, breaking down a Soviet directed attack, and protected U.S. ships and Sailors above and beyond the call of duty.

In 1962, reconnaissance aircraft captured clear evidence of Soviet missiles in Cuba. That intelligence gave President Kennedy critical leverage and helped prevent a nuclear crisis just miles from U.S. shores. What was seen from above helped change the course of history.

The Cadets from Old Dominion University who stopped an active shooter, received 8 Meritorious Service Medals. Two of them received Purple Hearts…from the Sergeant Major of the Army and the Secretary of the Army. Absolutely amazing and well deserved.
