@Lt_Gen_DP_Vats @AmitShah Very happy to learn this development. Often the larger governance has noble intentions, but the weak and uninformed staff or babus create the disconnect.

@RuchiSinghTalks #KeepDisabilityPensionTaxFree You are absolutely right. There is NO justification for taxing the hard earned disability pension of the soldiers, just to collect a revenue which is a fraction of nation’s budget in %terms.

Ideally, the pension of the Soldiers should be totally tax free. But, Then how would the govt give tax exemption to farmers who are mostly v v rich, whole Freebee gang, custom free million dollar cars to rich cricketer.. free canteen food to MP’s… #KeepDisabilityPensionTaxFree
The Army Guy@ColTekpal

@BJP4India So here’s the test of Patriotism … Justify taxing the Pension of Soldiers disabled in line of duty to raise ₹125 Cr ! After 104 years of exemption, the so called “Nationalists” must have a solid explanation !! Waiting !!! #KeepDisabilityPensionTaxFree 🇮🇳

Not quite. Oceans are distributed among maritime nations, and their respective abilities, into Search and Rescue Regions. Of course, if a maritime nation needs additional assistance, it can seek so from neighbouring maritime nations. SL has an effective SAR orgn. It was one ship-well within their capabilities. Every SRR "talk" to each other. SL handled it all on their own as they could and did not need assistance. Thats the way Search and Rescue at sea is organised so that it is carried out efficiently. Everyone does not rush in. There is a method, at sea.

Thank you @KartiPC for raising in Parliament the critical issue of income tax exemption on disability pensions. Your intervention has given hope and reassurance to thousands of disabled soldiers. Your stand for this cause reflects responsibility, and deep respect for the Armed Forces.

A disability allowance isn’t "income", it’s restitution. It’s the nation’s way of supporting a soldier who gave their health for our safety. You don’t tax a sacrifice. Let’s protect the dignity of our veterans.

@bsdhanoa Disability pension of soldiers was exempt since 1922. Imagine the home budget of senior and super senior disabled ex servicemen slashed by 25% in one stroke. They are not at employable age. No way to offset this hit. Sad @PMOIndia @rajnathsingh #revoke_it_disabilitypension

Two soldiers. One blast. One country. But two tax rules. Havaldar Rajesh Kumar served the Army for 28 years, carrying a war-time injury and 60% hearing loss till retirement. His comrade, Naik Sanjeev Singh, injured in the same IED attack, was invalided out earlier. Under the Finance Bill 2026, one soldier’s disability pension remains tax-free. The other’s doesn’t. Same injury. Same sacrifice. Different taxation. This isn’t tax reform, it’s moral gymnastics. Disability pension is not a reward for leaving service early, nor a penalty for completing it. It exists because the State accepts responsibility for injuries caused in uniform. By taxing soldiers who endured their wounds and still served on, the government isn’t just changing a rule, it’s redefining fairness, and not in a good way. A nation that counts revenue before responsibility should pause and ask: Is this really the balance we want to strike with those who bore the blast for us? @RahulGandhi @Jairam_Ramesh @kharge @priyankagandhi @kcvenugopalmp @INCIndia

Veterans slam tax on disability pension The proposed tax on disabled soldiers is wrong. These soldiers continued their service even after getting injured, completed their tenure, and now suffer lifelong health problems because of those injuries. @BDUTT @nsitharaman There should be no exemption on IT. Paying full IT should be seen as something to be proud of. The veterans/disabled could be provided with an extra allowance on their pensions based on set criteria.

Why are we not more upset over removal of tax exemptions to those disabled soldiers who retire after serving a full tenure? Not just do the new rules create two classes of conflict- wounded; they add insult to injury, quite literally. @nsitharaman will review this, I do hope

@NeoSimple007 @IndiaToday A friendly suggestion. Go and see the ground realities on borders and how soldiers operate there. If this is implemented troops will be soldiering but will come to work for 8/9 hrs a day like in corporate. Defence of the country and borders would be outsourced..
