@SadlyItsBradley Seems like the same feature seen on the xreal glasses? Works well when it works but does seem to crash on iniation often. Wonder if google/xreal partnership is driving it

The Auto Spatialization feature is really impressive… when it works
It always deactivates for any app I try to use it for after a few seconds. I am wondering if it cancels automatically during a thermal trigger
It’s a shame because it looks epic on PC games via Steam Link app!

@MatthewParrott @afoxdesign Apple went for that and made it too heavy. Even went to the point of making passthrough eyes to look like ski goggles. They did not catch on for a number of reasons. That said I own a used M2 version and I enjoy it for short periods of time to give a glimpse o glasses style AR

@afoxdesign This is very close to the optimal design, which is snowboarding goggles. It's a solved problem in terms of both style and function but the labs refuse to reach for the design template people are already comfortable and familiar with.

@MacRumors Bought mine second hand and is totally worth that price. Fantastic AR experience nothing even close but only for short periods of time due to weight.

Drawing fully interactive physics items in your real life world is incredible
I am surprised there hasn’t been more work in this area considering people love both simulation and crafting games

@SadlyItsBradley Ordered mine at BestBuy on Oct 10th and still shows ships by 12/30. I haven't seen any major reports of cancelations, so hopefully your friends was an anomaly. I did not order RX if that makes a difference

So have people trying to order Meta Ray Ban Display glasses from Best Buy having serious issues/delays?
A friend of mine got their order canceled after already being 2 weeks past the estimated ship dates
I also see that eBay prices for them are in mass scalper territory…

If you wait out the 15-day return period, they will start popping up on used marketplaces. A lot of people impulse buy these things to try them out, realizing it will never be worn.
I got my M2 AVP for $800 off MSRP by just waiting a month after release.

I’ve spent the last few days testing the performance of Apple Vision Pro with M5 — here’s how it stacks up against the original.
It’s 35% quicker when booting up, widgets appear almost instantaneously, Safari is noticeably more responsive, and creating Spatial Scenes also feels much faster.
The most impressive, and most interesting difference, though, comes with Apple Intelligence features, especially the Writing Tools. It summarized a reeeally long Wikipedia article in half the time. It really makes me wonder if Apple has more AI capabilities up its sleeve that the M5 will eventually unlock.

There are Vision Pros selling on eBay for literally $1,500.
Almost nobody should buy it for $3,500, but for less than half of that, it makes for a pretty compelling face TV.

And yeah, I learned that it was my left eye. Which is probably what causes me the most discomfort compared to people who don’t feel it’s a big deal.

I’m now convinced that smart glasses with only a monocular display cannot be mass market anytime soon
I think with current technology: people are way better off without a display rather than the tradeoffs of adding a single one
and I don’t expect Apple or Google to solve it

@markgurman Apple currently doesn’t offer a trade-in for the AVP. Will that change once the spec bump is announced? Also still no Sony PS2VR controllers in the App Store.

This is the new band I’ve been talking about. It’ll never happen but Apple should be giving this for free to every single person who has paid $3500+ for the Vision Pro.

the Annapro v2 head strap is the only thing which has made this device usable for me
absolute game changer
Apple should be embarrassed they shipped it with the straps they did given the absurd weight of this device
also hard plastic of some type would have been fine instead of metal and glass from an ergo perspective on a gen 1 device
