Dems keep fighting (and sometimes winning) the last war. In 2010 they had no plan to stop the (quite predictable) GOP strategy of maximizing midterm wins to lock in favorable maps for a decade. Only solution: Independent commissions, in states where you can petition that onto the ballot.* In MI, CO, NY, and VA, where they kept not having the majorities during decennial redistricting cycles, they put independent commissions in place. Problem solved! Oops! Ahead of the 2021 redistricting process, they actually had trifectas in CO/NY/VA. But they couldn't gerrymander anymore. (In MI they won a trifecta in 2022.) So they're trapped by a "good government" reform they were able to enact in blue states or purple states that they ended up making bluer. *ie, not states like North Carolina, where the (gerrymandered) GOP legislature decides what's on ballot

@jacobmparis I'm sure this post is just for engagement. Nonetheless, the answer to that question is that these are all new charges before they even post to the account, which takes 2-3 days. obviously, once charges post, they will be able to make payments even before the closing date.

So companies jacked up prices, passed the bill to customers, and now they’re lining up for refunds on those same charges refunds likely funded by taxpayers… who already paid the higher prices in the first place. Meanwhile, those same companies still have every tool to shrink their tax bill. Perfect loop.
