The single biggest issue in my life and the life of my loved ones is the inability to properly punish criminals in the city. Everyone I am close to has moved from a high crime city where activists DAs have pushed restorative justice programs. The crime was simply intolerable and is highly specific to a few metro areas where these DAs have power. They use culture war race grievances to ignore the problem. It’s not some fox talking point or some MAGA racism, it’s a massive policy difference between the two parties.

@TheSmokingPun @RailroadRaccoon I think we only had 2 freight stops in each direction, about 20ish delayed both ways. The delays don’t really both me, no real difference between 11hr 20min and 11hr 45min. Gotta get the overall time down to 9hr for more to hop on.

Just took it myself from Chicago to KC as well last week & we left at 2:25pm on the dot, feet on the ground at 10:22pm, just slightly delayed. On my computer the entire trip.

Amtrak has a train that is slower than driving (end to end) and runs 1 round trip daily, yet it saw nearly 100k more ridership than projected. The people yearn for an alternative to driving.

I know a teacher in the South Bronx. He was trying to fail some kids who did not come to class once all year. “I wouldn’t recognize them if I saw them.” The computer’s “enter” button was ghosted at 0%. He tried 20%, 45%, 60%… eventually, it went green at 71%. They all got Cs.

Reminder that Democrats subsidize rural regions (bad) via hospitals, broadband internet access, infrastructure, etc. Rural people turn around and consistently vote Republican. If Democrats stopped frivolously spending, there’d be increased economic pressure to concentrate in urban areas, thus helping democrats’ political prospects. Maybe one of the worst political strategies from Dems, more on this in a substack soon!
