It’s becoming harder to ignore how disinformation ecosystems operate when crises occur. In the Sydney attack case; emerging reports and inconsistencies have raised serious questions, yet instead of transparency and clear condemnation, we see carefully worded diplomatic letters offering “support” without accountability. Support cannot be credible if it avoids ack facts or responsibility especially when narratives are prematurely shaped. Genuine cooperation begins with truth and not by damage control.

A video has surfaced showing Lt Gen Rajiv Gai, Deputy Chief of Army Staff  intoxicated at a private party held at an Indian Army Colonel's farmhouse in Pona. In the footage, Lt Gen Rajiv is seen enjoying himself and dancing alongside Major Priya, one of his subordinates. Both appear to be under the influence of alcohol. After the party, the situation escalated when Lt Gen Rajiv forced himself on Maj Priya, sexually assaulting and raping her. In the aftermath, Major Priya confided in the wife of Lt Gen Rajiv, telling her the entire story. Both women decided to file a case against him. However, Gen Rajiv reportedly threatened his wife, pressuring her to retract her support. Sadly, she complied, leaving the case in a compromised state. @Baba_Thoka @AhmadSharifzad

Pakistani Army Lt. Colonel pays tribute at the grave of a brave Baloch Police Officer in Mushke, Balochistan. This officer was brutally martyred by BLA terrorists shot 20 times. Standing at his grave in front of a large gathering, the Lt. Colonel delivered a powerful message: Come fight us face to face. Taking money from India and killing innocent elderly Baloch is not bravery. Real courage is protecting your own people not becoming a foreign-funded killer.

1. @KamranBokhari It is always a pleasure to read your articles on Geopolitical Futures/ @GPFutures . Framing of the current article identifies Islamabad’s threat perception as foundational driver for emergence of Pakistan as a third-party intermediary between #Washington and #Tehran. In this regard, offering certain points for consideration. 2. It may be noted that Pakistan is not an accidental or conjunctural mediator. Infact past half-century witnessed Pakistan intervened at most consequential diplomatic junctures and acted as proverbial Net Regional Stabilizer. 3. In July 1971, Henry Kissinger’s travel on-board Pakistani aircraft to Beijing from Islamabad (Operation Marco Polo) was not only diplomatic facilitation, but it also ended US-China estrangement. At that moment, US Dept of State identified Pakistan as an indispensable hinge of the most important strategic alignment of second half of 20th Century. 4. In April 1988, Pakistan was not only participant rather indispensable signatory to Geneva Accords providing framework for Soviet military withdrawal from Afghanistan. Geneva Accord placed Islamabad at the structural centre of the most significant Cold War endgame negotiation in Asia. 5. The Doha Agreement of 2020 acknowledged important role of Pakistan in advancing Afghan peace process and led to redefinition of regional security order. 6. These three diplomatic junctures of 1971, 1988 and 2020, though separated by time, space and strategic contexts; established centrality of Pakistani Statecraft and its importance to any transformation in global or regional security architecture. 7. The Iran mediation of 2026 is the fourth major iteration and by no means Pakistan’s debut or driven solely by threat perception. @George_Friedman observed “Tehran is isolated even in its own region” while sharing “First Thoughts on the Attack on Iran” in Geopolitical Futures on 28 February. So have you also noted the collapse of Omani Diplomacy channel and Iran’s shrinking diplomatic space. Moreso, no major power (Russia or China) could broker US-Iran detente in the current scenario. So, for Pakistan, the previous pattern (1971, 1988, 2020) is the point which has structurally become a recurring feature of Pakistani diplomatic statecraft. 8. In your earlier analysis, “How the Iran War Creates New Strategic Environment” available on Geopolitical Futures dated 12 Mar 2026; it was also pointed out that Trump Administration’s burden sharing model “relies on two regional pillars namely Turkey and Saudi Arabia in coordination with Israel to maintain a balance of power”. It may be noted that Pakistan was already pulled into West Asian security calculus through Strategic Mutual Defence Agreement with #KSA even before Iran-US/Israel war began. Nevertheless, Pakistan’s Islamic credentials, religious affinity and geographic proximity provide it with sufficient flexibility to balance both flanks of the Gulf (Arab and Persian) in Middle East to broker any detente. 9. I would also like to extend the argument to maintaining balance of power in the region through Net Security Provider. It is understandable that various National Security Strategies of Washington look for regional powers capable of absorbing security responsibilities in lieu of direct American military commitment (aka Net Security Provider). Shah of Iran’s role in 20th century was classified as “gendarme of the Persian Gulf” by Nixon while India was named as “Net Security Provider and Economic Anchor” by Obama administration. Both could not deliver as expected by US. When viewed from the perspective of Iran-US/Israel war, Pakistan is offering itself as a strategic and reliable partner capable of shouldering regional responsibilities that the US wishes to delegate. This is Strategic Arbitrage within the ambit of Net Regional Stabilizer. As a corollary, the need to re-examine the notion of Net Security Provider vis-a-vis the notion of Net Regional Stabilizer. 10. I am reminded of Tim Marshall’s core thesis in “Prisoner of Geography” that geography permanently constrains and enables strategic choices. This aptly applies to Pakistan as it sits at the intersection of central asia, middle east, south asia and the Chinese arc of influence. This is not a conjectural advantage rather a permanent geographic endowment that continues to generate opportunities for Pakistan to balance global and regional relations through astute statecraft in its vicinity. I conclude by establishing that Pakistan is not merely a conjunctural or temporal third-party mediator/interlocutor elevated by the accident of Iran-US/Israel war. Pakistan’s diplomatic statecraft function has geographically spanned from Beijing to Moscow to Kabul to Tehran and has been instrumental in every transformation of global and regional security order. The historical ledger reveals that it is structurally recurring Net Regional Stabilizer whose geographic position, relational architecture and peculiar identity have made it indispensable at the most consequential diplomatic junctures of the past several decades. @GPFutures @George_Friedman @KamranBokhari #geopolitics #Iran #Pakistan #IranWar#middleeastwars @MidEastPolicy @georgetownsfs @pakdiplomacy @PakDiploForum

Pakistan’s quiet emergence as a U.S.-Iran intermediary is less a diplomatic accident than a reflection of Iran’s growing isolation and the collapse of alternative channels. Islamabad’s unique ability to engage Washington, Tehran, and even Beijing gives it leverage few states can match at this moment. What began as a defensive response to instability on Pakistan’s western flank has quickly evolved into a strategic opening. The Iran war threatens to inflame insurgencies along Pakistan’s borders, particularly in Baluchistan, making de-escalation a core national security priority. At the same time, sectarian sensitivities at home - spanning both Shiite affinities with Iran and broader anti-U.S. sentiment - raise the domestic stakes of regional conflict. Pakistan’s deepening security ties with Saudi Arabia further complicate its position, risking entanglement in a wider Saudi-Iran confrontation. By stepping in as mediator, Islamabad is not just crisis-managing - it’s repositioning itself within a U.S.-backed, burden-sharing regional order alongside Turkey and Saudi Arabia. The real question is whether Pakistan’s internal fragilities and external pressures will allow it to sustain this elevated role. Looming over all of this is the added complexity of how Pakistan, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia manage their evolving relationships with Israel in an increasingly volatile post–Oct. 7 regional landscape. BREAKING🚨 Afghanistan-Pakistan has reportedly reached a deal to end the ongoing conflict! The Chinese FMs brokered the deal in china 🇨🇳. The initial report suggests, Pakistan will give the Afghanistan full access to its sea, and markets and will not close the border crossing in the future without solid reason and pre-warning. The Afghanistan will relocate the TTP, ISKP and BLA to the north and will put a condition on them to not attack Pakistan using the Afghan soil. Photo: Reference

@KenRoth With respect, this analysis is incomplete and one sided. Pakistan has fought over two decades of war on terror besides losing thousanuds of soldiers and precious civilian lives in the process. It understands better than most how terrorists deliberately meld into civilian populations, exploit hospitals, mosques and rehabilitation centers as operational cover, and then hide behind international outrage when states respond. Your post is silent on the established fact that the Afghan Taliban Regime actively patronises TTP; a designated terrorist organisation responsible for thousands of Pakistani civilian deaths. Has your coverage afforded equal scrutiny to Taliban's documented and repeated refusal to act against TTP despite international demands? Selective accountability does not strengthen the human rights case, rather it undermines it. International humanitarian law places the full burden of proof on the state actor, while non-state actors viz TTP operate with near total impunity. Does that asymmetry concern you? Because it arguably incentivises terrorists to embed within civilian spaces, knowing only the state will face consequences. Pakistan is not conducting indiscriminate bombing. It is draining the swamp inside the very sanctuary that has harboured those who have attacked its people for over twenty years. That context deserves to be part of your analysis, not an afterthought. And humanitarian framing of the case doesn't preclude inquiry against Taliban regime and TTP.

💥 State Authority vs Protest Narrative: Iran’s Signal 🔹Iran's actions : 📌 Iran’s police chief declared protests as disloyalty, signaling a zero-tolerance, force-backed approach to maintain order. 📌 The stance highlights prioritization of state authority and stability during periods of unrest. 🔹Lessons for Pakistan : 📌 Internal security must remain paramount amid hybrid threats. 📌 Divisive narratives should be treated as security risks. 📌 Strong coordination in enforcement and information control is essential. 📌 National unity and rapid response are critical for stability.

I was wearing a Palestinian scarf when a woman came up to me to ask for directions. I helped her and told her the way. As she was leaving, she said, “I hate Islam.” She pointed at my scarf and said, “this is Islam” I replied, “No, this is not Islam.” Suddenly, she pulled my scarf and said, “This is Arab. This is Islam.” This kind of behavior shows Islamophobia and racism. Sadly, it feels like Islamophobia is rising again in the West. @richimedhurst @mehdirhasan @s_m_marandi @MarioNawfal @Bushra1Shaikh @ShabanaMahmood @Keir_Starmer @metpoliceuk
