Here’s a map showing where college football viewership is most and least prevalent. California - except for Fresno - doesn’t watch college football & hasn’t for some time. The darker the shading the more viewers.

Big Ten information and news
Big Ten information and news@Genetics56·
Big Ten University presidents, athletic directors, FOX Sports, and Tony P. should take a serious look at adding Clemson to the Big Ten. Why? I provide a detailed analysis and argument for why the Big Ten should add Clemson. Tony P. has three criteria for adding schools to the Big Ten. Those three are football success, TV ratings/markets, and academics. Let's be honest here, and not beat around the bush, and get to the heart of the matter here. TV ratings lead to profits for FOX Sports. Therefore, why should a school that is PROFITABLE for FOX Sports not be considered as a member of the Big Ten? Because they don't have AAU recognition? Clemson ranks better than three other Big Ten schools in academic rankings and ranks higher than Oregon, which is a school that is now a member of the Big Ten. If research dollars and academic rankings were the number one criteria for the Big Ten and FOX Sports for adding schools, then why were California and Stanford not added to the Big Ten? Why? Because they were not Tier1 additive to the TV contract with FOX Sports, CBS, NBC and the Big Ten. Clemson brings Tier1 value to the Big Ten TV contract with FOX Sports, NBC, and CBS. Viewership matters in an evolving media landscape that is becoming streaming based on viewership time and behavior. Thus, you need assets people want to watch. Clemson brings viewership power. From a football perspective and the attractiveness of Clemson as a university compared to other schools, Clemson brings to the table a lot of positives. Clemson is ranked 10th nationally for SP+ College Football Rankings from 2002 to Present. That is better than every P5 program besides 9 other programs . I repeat, 10th best in the country since 2002. That is 21 football seasons. A person was born and now in position to graduate from college from a life-long perspective. Clemson has one of the top long-term rankings in the country for football success. See attached data. As an ACC member, Clemson ranks #1 in the ACC for best win %, most conference titles, and most wins since 2005 to present. Last week I reached out to Tony Altimore to talk about building a model to put together a list of attractiveness for universities for conference realignment. For this model, we used football the last 5 Years, Last 10 Years, All-Time, Total Viewers, Avg. Viewers, Rated Games, Major Network Games, basketball, institutional rankings, research numbers, resources, (budgets, endowments), enrollment, state population, admit rate, DMA, AAU membership, athletic Subsidy (Per Student / Share of School Budget), and more. For school specific data results, reach out to @TJAltimore. After compiling all of the data and computing the results, Clemson came in with a ranking higher than the entire Big 12, Cal, North Carolina, Miami, Pitt, Duke, VA Tech, GA Tech, Iowa, Nebraska, Minnesota, Oregon, Maryland, IL, IN, Pur, NW, Rut, AR, Aub, KY, Ole Miss, MO, So Carolina, Miss St., and Vandy. For Net Cross Subsidy, which is money going BOTH WAYS between the Athletic Dept sources and the central campus, it's a VERY different picture than just the traditional look at accounting-based subsidies. Clemson does $34M, which is a ranking of 10th in the Big Ten 10th and for the SEC 8th. This ranking is better than North Carolina. For football viewership perspective, Clemson comes in ranked 5th in the country for 3M viewers or more since 2016. Clemson has the 7th most college football national titles since 1985. From a football viewership power perspective, Clemson is 1 of 15 schools that make up 50% of the college football viewership audience. Since 2019, Clemson ranks 9th nationally in largest athletic department budget increase in the country. Yes, Clemson would have the smallest enrollment compared to the current schools in the Big Ten, but Clemson doesn't have the same size of enrollment numbers as Oregon. And Clemson has had better football success in the last 30 years than Oregon, better football viewership, and resides in a more populated region of the United States. TV ratings? Yes, they are additive to the Big Ten Academics? They rank better than three other Big Ten schools Football success? 7th most national titles in the country since 1985. Give it some thought, please. When it comes to sports besides football, the Big Ten offers all of the sports Clemson sponsors and they are competitive in many non football sports.

In the 2017 NFL Draft in which they held the second overall pick, the 49ers did not study Patrick Mahomes because they believed they would be able to sign Kirk Cousins during 2018 free agency and reunite him with Kyle Shanahan. Those plans were scuttled when the Patriots and offered and traded Jimmy Garoppolo to the 49ers in October 2017. But the one QB the 49ers did trade up to get in the 2017 draft was C.J. Beathard, whom they selected in the third round, 104th overall. Beathard eventually left San Francisco to sign with Jacksonville and, in return, the 49ers got a compensatory 2022 7th-round pick that they used on … Brock Purdy.
