It was exciting to deliver the keynote at Vsquared Ventures New Horizons today at the dome of the former planetarium at the Deutsches Museum. I shared my honest view: AI is overhyped in biomedicine. Billions invested, zero transformative drugs delivered. And likely won't change for another 5–10 years. Why? Because biology is not tokens. The mammalian body complexity is enormous and the high-quality data to make real predictions doesn't exist yet. AI will accelerate drug development. But without real biological validation, close to human body reality, it just gives you another 1000 drug candidates you don't know what to do. Not cures. At Deep Piction, we built the platform to close that gap. The Deep Piction Agent, powered by our Biological Validation Engine (BVE), takes AI predictions and validates them at cell level in intact mammalian bodies. Which molecules actually work? At what accuracy? With what toxicity? We answer that. In the real complex mammalian body, not in a dish. We're applying this to viral infection-driven accelerated aging, starting with long COVID, and metastatic cancer, with the goal of eliminating every last cancer cell in the body. We have developed MouseMapper AI, a deep learning ensemble for the analysis of whole-body systems, including the nervous and immune systems, to map disease/drug perturbations tissue by tissue, organ by organ, at the cellular level in 3D. MouseMapper uncovered obesity-induced whole-neuronal changes, most notably, a loss of trigeminal nerve endings linked to impaired whisker sensitivity, as well as tissue-specific macrophage clustering across the body.
